(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 12 provinces, where at least 34 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Yu Sufang, 73, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan by the Huangchuan County Court on March 30, 2023.
Ms. Tang Yanmei, who lives in Maquanzi Township, Qinglong County, talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong and was followed by a plainclothes officer on the morning of April 17, 2023. The officer called other officers, and they arrested her. She is being held in the Qinhuangdao Detention Center.
Wang Xiaoning has not been seen or heard from for two weeks.
Ms. Zhang Xiangyun and Ms. Sun Guizhi were arrested and detained by officers from the Ningcheng County Police Department, for distributing Falun Gong flyers. Ms. Zhang was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan on June 23, 2022. She was incarcerated in the Inner Mongolia Women’s Prison in March 2023.
Ms. Li Fen lives in the Ganjingzi District. Officers had her neighbor knock on her door at around 7:00 p.m. on April 18, 2023. When she opened the door, they entered, arrested her, ransacked the place, and seized her belongings.
Ms. Zhang Yuexiang and Ms. Song Zonglan were distributing Falun Gong flyers and were recorded by surveillance systems. Officers from the Qixian Police Station ransacked their home on March 7, 2023. They seized paper currency with Falun Gong messages printed on them, satellite TV receiver boxes, many USB drives, amulets, Falun Gong flyers, notebook computers, and Falun Gong books. Both practitioners were given one year of release on bail pending trial.
Two practitioners from the Wendeng District, Fang Junfeng (gender unknown) and Ms. Wang Chunli, were arrested by officers from the Houjia Police Station at around 11 a.m. on April 12, 2023. Ms. Wang was admitted to the Wendeng Detention Center. Fang was released the night after Fang’s family appealed for Fang’s release in the police station. But the next day, officers went to Fang’s home in three police cars and arrested Fang again. Fang was finally released due to medical conditions.
Ms. Zhen Xiurong lives in Liulin Village, Sujiatuo Town, Haidian District, and has been repeatedly harassed since July 1, 2022. The Haidian Domestic Security Division has had officers from the Sujiatuo Police Station go to her home, photograph her, and search the place.
Ms. Hu Guilan lives in Wenquan Town, Haidian District. She was tried by the Shanhou Court on February 20, 2023. A verdict has not yet been announced.
Ms. Zhou Meili and Ms. Wu Huanhuan were sentenced to three and a half years, and three years and eight months in prison, respectively. They were among the eleven Jiujiang area practitioners who were arrested between 2022 and April 2023. The other nine practitioners are also facing trial. They are Liu Junhua, Tong Jinping, Guo Xiurong, Li Shuiqiao, Liu Huiping, Li Chaoqun, and her daughter.
Ms. Sui Guilan’s trial in the Mishan City Court started at 9:00 a.m. on April 11, 2023. She became ill and the trial was suspended. It was rescheduled for April 21, 9:00 a.m. as online trial. Ms. Sui and her lawyer refused to accept this.
Ms. He Sanmei lives in the Duanzhou District. She was arrested on April 4, 2023, and is being held in the Mugang Detention Center.
Ms. Yu Guixia and Mr. Wang Jifang received harassing calls separately from officers from the Wutai Township Police Station on March 1, 2023. Between March 2 and March 6, the officers went to their homes, photographed them, and collected their biological samples against their will.
Mr. Wang Yixia and Mr. Li Dejun were harassed at home by assistant officers Zhang Mingyi and others from the Wutai Township Police Station on February 27, 2023. The officers photographed Mr. Wang and collected his saliva sample against his will.
Lyu Wenjuan (gender unknown) and Liu Shaolong (gender unknown) were harassed at home by officers from the Chengzi Street Police Station, Jiutai City after 5:00 p.m. on March 13, 2023. The officers videotaped them and collected their saliva samples against their will.
Ms. Yang Jiali disappeared more than ten days ago. She may have been arrested.
Ms. Wang Dongqin was harassed by officers from the Xi’an Domestic Security Division, for mailing letters concerning the persecution of Falun Gong.
For the same reason, officers from the Huangdao Police Department in Qingdao City, Shandong Province went to Ms. Wang Jinyun’s home in Xi’an City on April 18, 2023. They ransacked the place, and seized 55 Falun Gong books and other Falun Gong materials.
Ms. Hu Cuilan was arrested by officers from the Xinjiekou Police Station for distributing Falun Gong flyers. She is facing trial.
