(Minghui.org) One of my friends decided to run a hotel chain in another city, and asked me to help him. He was seldom there, so whenever there were difficult problems or conflicts, he asked me to resolve them. During the process I always tried to let people know that, “Falun Dafa is good,” and the problems were always resolved smoothly.
Because most of the hotel workers were not from the area they ate and lived together. From construction workers to hotel operation staff, there were all kinds of people, and sometimes it was not easy for everyone to get along. Moreover, people constantly joined or left the staff. Some people had bad tempers and cursed a lot, while others liked to talk behind people’s backs. But no matter what kind of person, in the end they all knew that Falun Dafa is good, and they all respected me.
One chef cooked for the employees. We only found out after she was hired that she was not a very good cook. She was not very organized, either. The pots and pans were always dirty, and she often burned them or broke the bowls. The workers did not like to eat the food she made, and everyone hoped she would get fired. But I just tried to find time to help her prepare meals and clean up. She was so moved and kept saying, “Why are you so kind?”
I told her that it was because I practice Dafa. I talked with her about my cultivation process and also told her how Dafa is saving people. After she understood, she brought her son and husband to me to hear the information. She also took home the amulets (Falun Dafa symbols) I gave her and distributed them to her relatives and friends. Her son’s father-in-law was very ill and was hospitalized. The doctors had already given up. She told him about Dafa, and he not only survived, but was able to walk again. She later got a copy of Zhuan Falun (Falun Dafa’s main book) and began to read it.
A worker in his 60s accidentally fell from the window sill while hanging curtains. The owner sent me there to deal with the incident. When I got there, the worker was lying in bed. I said to him, “Quickly recite ‘Falun Dafa is good,’ and everything will be fine.” His son-in-law rushed over and shouted, “We don’t believe this. Just give us money!” I told them about the owner’s arrangement of going to the hospital. His family members still shouted, “Just give us the money first!” I comforted them, “Don’t worry, the owner will handle it according to the regulations.” The worker was taken to the hospital and I paid for the medical expense.
On the day of his surgery, I visited him in the hospital. His two daughters and sons-in-law yelled at me, “You are responsible for everything! If you don’t cover our losses, we will ruin your business!” His family members surrounded me. His younger daughter took videos of me with her mobile phone, saying that she would put me on the news. His wife rolled up her sleeves, threatening to hit me, and yelled, “Today you must give us the money! It’s useless to say anything else!” Even though they kept yelling and screaming, I calmly helped them communicate with the owner. I quietly waited in the lobby for the worker to undergo the operation.
In the days that followed, they kept calling me, and his sons-in-law came to the hotel many times to make trouble. I viewed the situation from their perspective and told them that the owner would try to meet their requests in accordance with the relevant regulations. I was able to treat the family’s rudeness and unreasonableness with kindness because of the guidance of Dafa, and I clarified the truth to them about Falun Dafa and the persecution. After a period of time, they no longer screamed at me or threatened me. The worker’s wife said to me, “You are a great person with a strong faith.” I told her that it was Dafa that changed me. In the end, both the worker and his wife agreed to withdraw from the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) and its affiliated organizations, and understood that “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
A young employee had three fingers hurt at work, and the tendons in two fingers were cut. While I dealt with this incident, I helped more than ten members of his family understand the truth, and they all withdrew from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. The situation was satisfactorily resolved. There had been many similar incidents, and the other party was always satisfied and did not have any resentment toward us.
A friend told me, “I have worked in several places, and the people are all so selfish and bad. It’s really nice to be here. Even my daughter-in-law knows that there is a good woman here who practices Falun Dafa.”
During the first two years I not only did my work as the hotel treasurer, but also cooperated with my coworkers and quietly did everything to make sure that everyone worked in harmony. The owner then decided to have me manage a hotel of 150 rooms with dozens of employees. So, I became the deputy general manager of the hotel chain, while still working as the treasurer.
Speaking of management, I was for sure a newcomer. In the service industry, we face a very complicated group of customers; the workforce is unstable and the quality isn’t always ideal. We can only win over customers with high-quality service and excellent hygiene. I asked myself, how should I manage everything?
One thing I did was to regularly organize an employee meeting. Each time I told them a traditional story, such as “The Six Foot Alley,” “Han Xin Endured Humiliation,” and so on, and then we would have discussions.
The story I told in the first meeting was about two countries which shared a river. The people of the country on the east side of the river often found their fruit were missing. They later realized their fruit was stolen by the people from the west side of the river at night. The people on the east side crossed the river and saw that the crops on the west side were not growing well, so they secretly went to the west side every night to fertilize and water the crops. Soon, the crops on the west side were as good as ones on the east side, and produced lots of great fruit. The people on the west side noticed the change and observed secretly. They then found out people on the east side were helping them. They felt very bad about stealing their fruit. Later, the people from the two countries became good friends.
After the story, we had discussions of why it’s not good to start a war to resolve problems. We all gave our opinions and eventually everyone understood the principles behind the story. I also assigned some homework: I asked the employees to talk about how they treated different types of guests. During the next meeting, they all talked about how they were enthusiastic, considerate, patient, and kind in their services in order to make the guests feel satisfied. I encouraged all of them to speak and asked everyone to learn from each other. The quality of our service kept improving. No one had quarrels with the guests and when they found things that the guests lost, they would always turn them in and contact the guests.
Once, a customer service staff who had just joined not long ago came to me crying. She said her father was in the emergency room and asked me if she could borrow some money. I immediately gave her the money and went to the hospital to see her father. On the way there, I told her some of the miraculous stories about Dafa and told her that Dafa could save her father. She understood and withdrew from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. When we arrived at the hospital, her father-in-law was anxiously waiting outside the intensive care unit, and her mother was crying. I comforted them and told them how my mother-in-law was saved from danger after sincerely reciting, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” They both repeated the phrases after me and withdrew from the CCP.
I went to the doctor and explained that I needed to see the patient. The doctor made an exception and allowed me into the intensive care unit. Seeing that the father was unconscious, I had no choice but to lean close to his ear and say, “Listen, please remember that Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good. You will definitely recover soon.” The next day, I went to the hospital again, and gave the mother a Falun Dafa symbol, and asked her to give it to the father when he gained consciousness. She held my hand and repeatedly thanked me. The four relatives who were there all withdrew from the CCP. Soon, the father’s situation stabilized and he was discharged from the hospital. He has been in good health since then.
I always regarded the employees’ difficulties as my own, and I tried to help them no matter how big or small the problems were. When employees were leaving their positions, I would walk with them all the way to the outside of the gate and reminded them to remember that Dafa is good. They all chose to withdraw from the CCP. Some of them went to other hotels, and then found ways to come back to work in our hotel again.
Once, three customers bought airplane tickets through us but needed to reschedule their flight due to the weather. They called us early in the morning. But on the previous day, our staff made a mistake in setting up phone transfers, and it resulted in their phone calls going to a random person. Since the customers kept calling, that person thought it was spam. He became angry and cursed at them. The customers were very anxious and angry, because at the time, the ticket price was constantly going up. They came to me, and said that the price had gone up by several hundred yuan. I comforted them, “Don’t worry, let’s change the tickets first.” After I helped them make reasonable arrangements and compensations, they were very satisfied and happy. I then found a good time to clarify the truth to them, and told them “Falun Dafa is good.” They all agreed to withdraw from the CCP, and happily shook my hand when they left.
Another time, two customer service staff did not coordinate well, and a guest room was double booked to a second guest while the previous guest still had it. The previous guest’s name was Zhang, and when he came back to the room and found out his belongings were missing, he was very angry and ran to the front desk. He cursed and drove out the second guest. The room manager couldn’t handle the situation and called me. I went to the front desk to meet Zhang. I first apologized to him, “I am the person in charge here. I am so sorry for the inconvenience caused by our mistake.” He said, “It is useless to say anything. You people have made me uncomfortable. I will also make you uncomfortable.” I said to the bartender, “Please get some water for our guest.” Zhang said, “I don’t want it!” At this time, someone else came to check in, and Zhang yelled at him, “You are not allowed to stay here!” That person was frightened and left. I smiled and said to him, “As long as you can vent your anger, you can say whatever you want.” He still refused the water or drink we brought him, and then drove away two more guests who came to check in.
Most people would call the police when encountering something like this. But I did not get angry, and I just quietly sat with him. At this time, another guest came in, and Zhang yelled at him again. The guest ignored him, and left after checking in. Zhang was a little bit embarrassed. I didn’t say anything, and continued smiling. Soon, another guest came in, and Zhang yelled at that guest to drive him away. This time, that guest immediately talked back to him and yelled at him, and then checked in and left. Zhang really looked embarrassed this time. So I took the opportunity and said to him, “I know that you are angry. You have already caused us such a big loss. You know that most people would have called the police. Maybe now you can go and take a rest.” He thought for a while and said, “I know a reporter. I will go find him now, and ask him to come tomorrow. Then, you need to bring all your staff to apologize to me, and we will put that in the news on TV.” I said, “Okay. Today it was our fault, and I hope you can forgive us.” As he walked out, I asked him if we could get him a taxi. He seemed a little embarrassed and said no. He never came back.
In the months after I became the deputy general manager, the monthly profit increased by 5% every month compared with the previous year. After eight months, the profit was up by 460,000 yuan over the same period in the previous year. That year’s annual net profit reached 4 million yuan, and it was really a miracle.
On the local website, many people posted reviews to praise the quality of our service and the cleanliness our rooms.
The owner witnessed everything and saw the miracle of Dafa. He said to me sincerely, “Do you know why I insisted on asking you to help? It was because you practice Falun Dafa!”
