(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 24 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. You Hongyan from the Hengshan District was arrested by officers from the Hengshan District Police Department on August 3, 2022. She was sentenced to one year and six months in prison by the Jidong County Court.
Zheng Yongxin, Yang Jie, Huang Yuxia, Chang Xiu’e, Wen Jing, Jing Yuling, Wang Shunqin, Wen Yuxiu, and Zhang Yulian will be tried by the Shapotou District Court at 9 a.m. on April 18, 2023.
Mr. Tian Shujun was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison.
Ms. Zhang Hui was sentenced to six months in prison. She appealed, but there is no information about the second trial.
Ms. Sun Yong and Ms. Ma, both in their 70s, and Ms. Yang Chengyun, in her 60s, were arrested in early March 2023 by officer Wang from the Xiling District Domestic Security Division and four or five others. The three practitioners were detained for 15 days. Their homes were ransacked. The officers confiscated all their Falun Gong books and audio players. The officers admitted that they’d monitored and followed the practitioners for several days before the arrests.
Ms. Ge Yuhua, in her 70s, was put into a police car by officers from the Wenbei Police Station in the Lunan District when she talked to people about Falun Gong on the morning of April 9, 2023. The details of her situation are not known.
Ms. Zhang Dongqing was arrested by Liandong Police Station officers on the morning of March 31, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to a detention center. She returned home on April 8.
Mr. Li Zhenzhong, who was held in Tailai Prison, should have been released on April 7, 2023. His family went to the prison to pick him up that day. Prison staff said that the release date was April 17, and the date printed on the sentence was a typo. Qiqihar City was running a brainwashing session, and it is believed that Mr. Li was taken there.
Li Jing, Li Xianghong, and Zhang Tao from Liquan County were arrested by officers from the Qian County Police Department and the Qindu District Police Department on September 29, 2022. They are still being held in the Xianyang City Detention Center. Their families have not been allowed to visit them.
Their cases were brought to the Qindu District Court. The court notified their families of a hearing on April 4, 2023, but then it was canceled. The court then notified their families that the trial would be held in the Qindu District Court at 9 a.m. on April 11, 2023.
Ms. Liu Jingyu, 75, from the Jinzhou District was arrested and her home was ransacked on the evening of April 5, 2023. Further details are not available.
Ms. Li Yufen was arrested on April 6, 2023. She was admitted to a detention center.
Two officers from the Xiaohan Town Police Station broke into Ms. Zhou Xingyan’s home around 10 a.m. on April 4, 2023. They asked Ms. Zhou for Falun Gong materials. She give them a recently published article written by the founder of Falun Gong.
After reading it, the officers searched Ms. Zhou’s home, found a copy of Zhuan Falun, and called for backup. Six people showed up, ransacked the place, and confiscated 30-40 Falun Gong books.
