(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Yu Guimei, around 70, who lives in Yushutun Village, Shoushan Town, Liaoyang County, was arrested at a practitioner’s home on November 6, 2020 and released the next day. She was taken to the Liaoyang Detention Center in March 2021 and was later sentenced to three years in prison. Ms. Yu is now in the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison.
Ms. Xiao Deyu, 57, was arrested at home at 1 a.m. on October 17, 2022 and has since been held in the No. 4 Detention Center. She is to be tried in the Liuyang City Court at 2 p.m. on April 27, 2023.
Ms. Yue Chunhua, 65, and Ms. Zhang Guizhen, 76, were arrested on April 19, 2023 for talking to people about Falun Gong in a market. Their homes were ransacked. Ms. Zhang was released the next day. Ms. Yue has been detained.
Ma was arrested in the workplace around April 23 or 24, 2023, and is currently being detained in the Yaojia Detention Center.
Ms. Xie Hong was arrested by plainclothes officers in the provincial government compound on the morning of April 19, 2023.
Ms. Ying Yu was arrested by officers from the Shanghai Railway Police Department on April 4, 2023, and her home was ransacked. She is being held in the Changning District Detention Center.
Bu Yuxin from the Jiapigou community was arrested on February 25, 2022. Bu was tried in court on September 1, 2022 but a verdict was not announced. Bu is currently being held in the Jilin City Detention Center.
Ms. Du Guiqin from Chaoyang District was placed under residential surveillance again on April 23, 2023.
Liu Yuhong was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong, and was arrested by officers from the Mashan Police Station in the Jimo District. Liu was detained for 37 days in the No. 2 Detention Center and has been released. Liu was then bailed out pending trial for one year by the Jimo District Procuratorate.
Liu Weifang was arrested and taken to a detention house.
Mr. Luo Xiaogang was arrested at his workplace on April 18, 2023 and taken to the Xiaochang Brainwashing Center.
Mr. Luo was seen by surveillance cameras when he was distributing information about Falun Gong last year, then arrested by officers from the Shuyuan Police Station on November 10, 2022. He was placed under 15-day detention. His father passed away and he was allowed to leave to attend the funeral on November 13, 2022. When he returned, he was denied admission due to the pandemic.
Several officers from the Jinzhou District Police Department went to Cui’s home at 4:30 p.m. on April 23, 2023. They broke in and ransacked the place when no one was at home. Cui, 75, was arrested when Cui returned home in the afternoon and was taken to the Guangming Police Station. The police tried three times to put Cui in the detention center but failed. Cui was released on April 25, 2023 but was placed under residential surveillance.
Ms. Sun Hua from Majiadian Town was reported to police for talking about Falun Gong and was arrested by officers from the Beijingzi Police Station on April 25, 2023. Her home was ransacked at noon. The police confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder and over 40 Falun Gong books and magazines.
Ms. Yu Lamei from Wuchang District went out to distribute information about Falun Gong. She is now missing.
Mr. Ji Ruiling from Hanshan District was sentenced to three years in prison by the Feixiang District Court on March 24, 2023. He appealed to the Handan City Intermediate Court.
16. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Case Against Ms. Huang Guiqin Submitted to the Procuratorate
Ms. Huang Guiqin from Beitaitou Township of Wei County, in her sixties, left her hometown in 2019 to avoid being persecuted. She was arrested in Zhengzhou City on October 14, 2022 and is currently detained in the No. 3 Detention Center of Handan City. Her case has been submitted to the Procuratorate.
Ms. Xu Guilian lives in Dingxinzhuang Village, Dawangguzhuang Township, Wuqing District. Her home was ransacked on April 20, 2022 and the police confiscated her Falun Gong books, MP3 player, and cell phones, etc. Ms. Xu was taken to the police station for interrogation and released on bail pending trial in the late evening.
Her case was submitted to the Wuqing District Procuratorate and she was summoned to the Procuratorate at 9 a.m. on April 19, 2023. When she didn’t show up, three officers from the Chagugang Police Station went to her home and forcibly took her to the Procuratorate at noon on April 19, 2023. She was threatened and told she would be taken to a detention center if she did not cooperate. Ms. Xu left home to avoid further persecution.
Ms. Sun, around 50, was arrested by officers from the Chengbei Police Station on the afternoon of April 26, 2023. That evening her home was ransacked by officers from the Chengbei Police Station.
Ms. Zhuang Shuhua was put on the wanted list by the Longkou Court on March 20, 2023. The reward was raised to 40,000 yuan. Ms. Zhuang has stayed away from her home for nearly four years to avoid the persecution. Her older brother was recently harassed by police who demanded to know where she was.
Mr. Yang Jianzhuang was arrested for distributing information about Falun Gong. His family was told that he would be detained for ten days.
Ms. Tan Yumei was arrested at the North Railway Station in Shenyang City when she was returning to Xingcheng City on April 4, 2023. The police searched her and found stickers with information about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked that evening. Ms. Tan was escorted back and taken to the Huludao City Detention Center on April 14, 2023.
Mr. Hu Yongli, a relative of Ms. Tan Yumei, was arrested by officers from the Ningyuan Police Station in Xingcheng City on April 6, 2023. He was placed under official arrest and taken to the Xingcheng City Detention Center.
Ms. Wu Wei was reported to police for distributing cards which had information about Falun Gong, and was arrested on February 18, 2023. She was taken to the Dongba Police Station. Two days later she was released on bail pending trial for one year.
Hua Qinxiao was arrested at home around March 10, 2023.
