(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 22 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Fan Meiling’s case was submitted to the Bazhou City Court by prosecutor Yang Yubiao of the Bazhou City Procuratorate on May 17, 2023. Her family called the court and learned that the case was sent to the Langfang City Intermediate Court for registration.
Mr. Xie Hanzhu was sentenced to five years in prison. His appeal was denied. He was transferred to the Beijiang Prison.
Officers from the Qianguo County Domestic Security Division and the Baiyilaga Township Police Station went to Ms. Wang Shuchun’s home at noon on May 24, 2023. She was not at home. The officers searched the place and confiscated a picture of the founder of Falun Gong. When her husband messaged her on WeChat, an officer assigned to monitor the Internet noticed it. His cell phone was confiscated.
The officers returned to the couple’s place after they learned she was home. She walked out of her back door but a police car was waiting there. She was arrested and given 15 days of detention.
Ms. Tai Lijuan was arrested around May 15, 2023.
Ms. Fu Xinhua posted Falun Gong flyers after she went grocery shopping around 10:00 a.m. on May 26, 2023. Someone photographed her and reported her to the police. Four or five officers went to her home around 12:30 p.m., ransacked it, seized two old printers, a laser printer, a computer, an Apple cell phone, a set of Falun Gong lectures, three copies of Zhuan Falun, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, a paper cutter, and more than 1,000 yuan in paper currency with Falun Gong messages printed on them.
She and her husband were taken to the Beishijiawu Police Station for police records around 3:00 p.m. Her husband was released on bail pending trial, but he refused to sign the record. At 2:00 p.m. the next day, both of them were given criminal detention. Again, they refused to sign the paperwork. Officers took them to a detention center and made them have physical exams. Her husband was released because his blood pressure was high. She was detained for seven days of administrative detention.
Many practitioners were harassed at home by officers from the Domestic Security Division and police stations, as well as community clerks, in April and May 2023. Zhang Ruiyun, Chen Chuyun, Du Xingqin, Du Fengying, Lan Cuilian, and Wang Yiyan were among those targeted. Wang Yiyan and Wang Shoulan from Sichuan Province have been missing for over two weeks.
Li Zhijie (gender unknown) from Faku County was grabbed by a young man in front of Li’s home around 5:30 p.m. on April 21, 2023. The man called the police. Four or five officers from the Shiqiao Police Station came in three minutes. They ransacked Li’s home, seized more than 50 copies of Falun Gong books, a computer, 10 players, more than 700 yuan in cash, and a cell phone owned by another practitioner. They took Li to a detention center that night. Li was given a physical exam, which showed he’d had a stroke and a heart attack. Prosecutors returned Li’s case after they got Li’s physical exam report.
Li was released on May 24. Li’s daughter went to the Shiqiao Police Station and asked that the confiscated items be returned on May 28. Officers said the case was still open and the items would not be returned until the case was closed. Li’s cell phone is monitored.
Mr. Yan Shujun, around 70, lives in Yang County. Someone reported him and said that he gave a Falun Gong flyer to a family member during the 2023 “May 1st” holiday. He was taken to the Yang County Domestic Security Division. Officers interrogated him and then released him to his family. Ten days later, officers went to his home, seized his Falun Gong books, and took him away again. They forced him to say that he used chalk to write “Falun Gong is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” on the wall and gave him a six-month house arrest notification.
Ms. Zhang Jinqing, 76, is a retired teacher. Three years ago, someone reported her, saying she distributed Falun Gong flyers. The police ransacked her home and tried to arrest her. She fled. When she recently used her identification card, the police tracked her own. She was arrested around May 16, 2023, by officers from the Hekou Police Station. Ms. Zhang is being held in the Yaojia Detention Center.
Ms. Sui Lixian, who came from Heilongjiang Province, lives in the Yanjiao area in Sanhe City. She was ordered to report to the Dongcheng Police Station. Her home was ransacked. She was given a 30-day criminal detention and held in a detention center.
Qi Fengqiong, gender unknown, lives in Yanbu Town. Qi was arrested on May 6, 2023. Officers shut down several streets while they arrested Qi.
Qi’s previous arrest happened on the afternoon of March 10, 2023. Plainclothes officers arrested Qi after Qi got of work. Qi was held in the Nanhai Detention Center. Warden Tan and others falsified evidence and tried to bring charges against Qi.
Ms. Wang Tingfang, 83, lives in South Ruihua Lane, Guihui Road. She has been missing since the week before May 13, 2023, World Falun Dafa Day. She told others that she was repeatedly harassed at home and photographed by Xingyun Community clerks.
Ms. Wang was sentenced ten years ago to three years probation for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
Xue Fengfeng (gender unknown) was arrested by officers from a police station in the Tianqiao District when Xue was about to leave home for work around 7:00 a.m. on May 24, 2023. The officers ransacked Xue’s home.
Mr. Zhang Qinglian lives in Qingshui Village, Jiudian Town. Officers from the Zhugou Police Station ransacked his home on the evening of May 28, 2023. They seized more than a hundred Falun Gong pamphlets and an unknown number of Falun Gong books.
Ms. Xin Honglan was arrested at home by five or six officers from the Huangwu Police Station officers at 8:00 a.m. on May 26, 2023. The officers did not show any documents before ransacking her home. They seized her Falun Gong books, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, players, keepsakes, and other properties. She was held in the police station overnight and released the next day.
Ms. Wu Youqing was admitted to the Shuikou Detention Center in Xinyi City on September 28, 2023. Inmate cell head Wu Cailan verbally abused her and did not let her have any daily necessities or allow anyone else to give her any.
On October 4, 2022, guard He made Ms. Wu wear shackles for seven days.
Around October 6, 2022, Wu Chailan, in front of the entire cell of over 20 inmates, removed her bloody sanitary napkin, and used it to wipe Ms. Wu’s mouth. Ms. Wu was so disgusted that she could not eat anything for the next 30 days.
