(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Sun Jing was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong near Qiandian Town, Shuncheng District. She was sentenced to one year and six months in prison by the Fucheng District Court on March 21, 2023. The original verdict was upheld by the intermediate court. She was taken to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison.
Ms. Sun’s husband, Mr. Hu Guojian, was imprisoned twice for practicing Falun Gong and died in 2018 due to the persecution.
Ms. Xu Caihua was arrested by officers from the Gongchen Police Station on December 24, 2021, for posting stickers which had information about Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong's founder, and a laptop computer, printer, etc. Her husband Mr. Bo Shuda was also arrested. Ms. Xu was released on bail pending trial because of her health but Mr. Bo was sent to the Fangshan District Detention Center.
It was learned recently that Ms. Xu was sentenced to four years and six months in prison and fined 5000 yuan. The term was executed out of prison due to her health. Mr. Bo was sentenced to one year and five months in prison and fined 2000 yuan. He served the term and was released.
Ms. Qin Aihua, 68, from Shinan District, was arrested by officers from the Liaoning Road Police Station on July 31, 2023 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She is currently being held in the Pudong Detention Center in the Jimo District.
Ms. Li Fengzhen from Zaigu Community in Jiajiang County was arrested by plainclothes officers when she was talking to people about Falun Gong in Xinchang in August 2022. She was released that day but was arrested again in October 2022. It was learned that Ms. Li was sentenced to four years in prison and is now detained in the Fuxi Detention Center of Emei City.
Ms. Lin Ling from Huancui District was reported to police by community staff members and was arrested at 3 p.m. on June 12, 2023. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated computer, printer, Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong's founder, and informational materials about Falun Gong. Ms. Lin has since been released.
Ms. Ren Guizhi was arrested by officers from the Wandianzi Town Police Station and the Qingyuan County Police Department on July 24, 2023. She was placed under 15-day detention but the Fushun City Detention Center refused to accept her due to her high blood pressure and weak heart. The police went to her home on August 3, 2023 and tried to take her to the detention center again. Her condition had not improved and she was again denied admission. The detention order was then canceled.
Ms. Lei Shengping, 64, was arrested in Chibi City on August 3, 2023.
Ms. Zuo Yindi from Pingchang District, 70, was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong in a bus station around June 10, 2023. She was arrested by three officers from the Dagang Police Station the next day. She refused to cooperate and was held in a dark room until being released that evening.
Ms. Zuo lives alone. When she came back home, she found that her home had been ransacked. The police confiscated a photo of Falun Gong's founder, a Falun Gong book, a lecture tape, three media players for the exercise music and Falun Gong songs, three cell phones, and other belongings. When Ms. Zuo went to the police station the next day and asked that her belongings be returned, officers dragged her out of the police station.
Mr. Lang Baiming was arrested on July 20, 2023.
Ms. Zou Huaxiang will be tried in the Rongcheng City Court.
Mr. Gao Shiwei from Hualin Town was arrested when he talked to people about Falun Gong on July 20, 2023. He was held for ten days in the Mudanjiang City Detention Center.
Mr. Gao was sentenced to three years of forced labor because he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 2000. Mr. Gao and two other practitioners, Mr. Yao Guocai and Mr. Wang Mingzhu, held up a banner in Tiananmen Square in Beijing. All three practitioners were sentenced to three years of forced labor and sent to the Mudanjiang City Forced Labor Camp.
Zhou from Dalizi was arrested on July 7, 2023 and detained in the Jingyu Detention Center. Zhou’s home was ransacked.
Two elderly practitioners, Ms. Lu and Ms. Chi from Pulandian District, were reported to police for distributing information about Falun Gong, and were arrested on the morning of August 3, 2023. They were released at 5 p.m. that day.
Ms. Zheng Mei’e was arrested in her son’s home by officers in the Hanting District on the morning of August 3, 2023.
Ms. Zhang Yanlian from Guchengxiangyuan was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong, and arrested by officers in the Beita District on the afternoon of August 2, 2023. She is currently being held in the Chaoyang City Detention Center.
Ms. Wu Liwan and Ms. Li Yuwei were arrested on July 24, 2023, by several people including officers from the Chigang Police Station in Haizhu District, Fu Xueli, director of Zhuyuan Community, and Wang Zhongcheng from the Guangzhou Brainwashing Center. The two practitioners are possibly being held in a brainwashing center.
