(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 72 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Jiang Julian, 84, was arrested by the Xinzhou District police for distributing Falun Gong materials. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated all of her Falun Gong books and printed materials. Ms. Jiang was released. The police sent her case to the Xinzhou District Court, threatened her and said that she would be tried in July 2023.
Ms. Ou Jianxiang was arrested and her home was ransacked by several officers from the Xianfeng Police Station at 6:40 a.m. on July 7, 2023. Her whereabouts are unknown.
Six or seven officers from the Zhaoyuan City Police Department and the Daqinjia Town Police Station broke into Ms. Zhang Qingfen’s home and arrested her on July 8, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, Zhuan Falun, and other items.
Mr. Wang Zhongming, Mr. Sun Tienong, Mr. Liu Hongyun, and Mr. Liu’s wife Ms. Zhang Yaru from Acheng District were arrested by officers from the Acheng District Domestic Security Division on July 4, 2023. Mr. Wang was released that day. Mr. Sun was taken to the Shuangcheng District.
Mr. Zhang Chao from Changtu County, Liaoning Province was handcuffed and arrested on June 26, 2023. On the afternoon of July 6, officers from the Shuangliao City Police Department of Jilin Province signed a notice that Mr. Zhang was officially placed under arrest.
Ms. Yang Qiaoling and Ms. Shan Yuhua were arrested by officers from the Hezhuang Township Police Station while talking to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of July 5, 2023. They were detained for 12 days.
Ms. Liu Guishuang from the Daoli District was arrested by the police while distributing Falun Gong materials on the morning of July 6, 2023. She was released after 10 p.m. that evening.
Ms. Wang Shifen from Wukeshu Town was arrested and taken to the Wukeshu Town Police Station by the Yushu City police on the evening of July 7, 2023.
The officers confiscated paper cuts with the words, “Bliss” displayed on the wall, a handwritten copy of Zhuan Falun and an old laptop used by her children. Ms. Wang was released that night.
A few days ago, Mr. Zhong Jianhua from Huzhu Village, Wukeshu Town, was arrested and detained in the Yushu Detention Center for five days before being released.
Two elderly practitioners, Ms. Liu Guihua and Ms. Zhao, were reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of May 11, 2023. They were arrested by officers from the Tongjiang Street Police Station in the Changyi District.
Ms. Zhao had to pay 5,000 yuan and was released on bail the following day. Ms. Liu was taken to the Jilin City Detention Center and has not yet been released.
Ms. Fan Meiling’s lawyer and family members went to the Langfang City Detention Center at 9 a.m. on July 5, 2023 to meet with her. The detention center gatehouse guards made things difficult for them. The appointment was set up two days in advance for 10 a.m. on July 5. After her lawyer arrived, the gatehouse guards told him to call the detention room. He made over 20 phone calls, but no one answered.
At 9:50 a.m. her lawyer saw a lawyer who was handling another case go in directly without making any phone calls. Seeing this, Ms. Fan’s family members insisted on not making more phone calls. Finally after playing a recording of the appointment made over the phone for the 10 a.m. meeting, the guards ran out of excuses and let them in.
After they entered the detention center, staff members claimed that Ms. Fan’s lawyer did not have the required paperwork and they would not allow them to meet with her. However, Liu Wenmao, a guard in the detention room, did not specify the requirements when setting up the appointment. The detention center demanded that one of her lawyers had to be dropped. Her lawyer had no choice but to get the paperwork in order, and had to return in the afternoon.
When her lawyer called the detention room that afternoon, no one answered the phone. Ms. Fan’s family members filed a complaint. Eventually the detention center arranged for them to meet with Ms. Fan.
Ms. Liu Li and Ms. Yang Yukun were arrested by officers from the Huangqizhai Police Station on July 6, 2023. They were taken to the Tieling City Detention Center on the afternoon of July 7, where they were detained for 15 days.
Ms. Ma Meijuan from Xiaonihetou Village, Fengtai Sub-district, was arrested on the afternoon of July 3, 2023. She was released at 2 a.m. on July 4.
Ms. Wang Dongmei and Mr. Zhang Xibo from Pingdu City were arrested by six officers from the Liyuan Police Station on July 3. The officers ransacked Ms. Wang’s home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and a computer. Both Ms. Wang and Mr. Zhang were held overnight at the police station and were released on July 4 around noon.
The Yunshan Police Station released Ms. Zhang Junying on bail, and her family brought her home on the evening of July 4.
Officers from the Pingdu City 610 Office arrested Ms. Qiu Shuhui in Xingjiatuan Village at noon on July 3, 2023. She is being held in the Mencun Detention Center.
Mr. Sun Yuke from Qilu Company was arrested at home by officers from the Wenshao Police Station in the Linzi District on July 6, 2023. The officers ransacked his home and confiscated Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. Mr. Sun is being held in the Linzi District Detention Center.
Ms. Jie Caiyun, in her 60s, from Zhangwu County, was arrested by six officers from the Zhangwu County Police Department when they returned home after distributing Falun Gong materials on June 29, 2023. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, a laptop, and about 200 yuan in cash from her bag. Ms. Jie is being held in the Fuxin City Detention Center.
Ms. Sun Guilan was arrested on July 5, 2023.
Officers from the Chengguan Town Police Station in the Mancheng District called Ms. Lu Yanfen’s husband, and three officers subsequently went to her home. Ms. Lu was not at home. They gave her husband a summons notice that Ms. Lu had to go to the police station to be interrogated at 5 p.m. that day. They forced her husband to sign the notice.
Ms. Liu Linxia was arrested at noon on July 3, 2023. She was held in the Anning District Detention Center for five days.
Ms. Huang Miaoying was arrested by officers from the Shahe Police Station in the Changping District on February 23, 2019. She was released on bail.
The Changping District Court delivered the criminal judgment on May 23, 2023.
At 5 p.m. on July 5, 2023, the Beijing No. 1 Intermediate Court notified Ms. Huang by phone, and told her to go to the No. 1 Intermediate Court at 3 p.m. on July 6 and they would ask her about her situation. Ms. Huang returned home on the afternoon of July 6.
Ms. Huang submitted an application for a public hearing and an application for revocation of the criminal judgment. She requested to revoke the (2020) Beijing No. 0114 Initial Criminal Judgment No. 519 issued by Changping District Court, which carried an eighteen month prison term and a 2,000 yuan fine. Judge Xiang Yang at the intermediate court accepted Ms. Huang’s appeals.
Ms. Wu Xiumei and Ms. Li Yuling from Zhuolu County went to Xinxingbao Village, Dongxiaozhuang Town, to bring copies of Master’s recent lectures to villagers on July 3, 2023. Village Party secretary Zhang Mingli reported them to the Dongxiaozhuang Town Police Station. Both practitioners were arrested by three officers from the police station. They were released over an hour later.
Ms. Tong and her mother from Yangshu Township, Dafangshen Town, were recently arrested by officers from the Yangshu Township Police Station.
