On Mobile Phone Surveillance

Oct. 21, 2024 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) I wrote this article to remind practitioners: Those who are still using mobile phones to do Dafa work, or using codes to communicate with other practitioners, bringing mobile phones to Fa study groups and so on, please pay attention to safety!

A few years ago, my husband drove my daughter and me to a large market. We were guided by GPS. As we got closer to our destination, we didn’t follow the GPS instructions which told us to turn around. When we ignored it, it called out: “Hey pretty woman, you missed your turn.” We thought it was funny because my husband was driving. We later realized we were using the GPS on my daughter’s phone.

Around the second half of last year, my husband drove me to the high speed rail station because he wanted to show me how well it was built. There were few people that day, so we walked around the station. We headed home and neared an exit point, but we didn’t exit as my husband knew there were other exit points. When he continued driving the speaker called out: “Turn back, turn back. There’s no road in front.” At first, we thought it was referring to another driver because we knew there was a road ahead. However, the speaker called out my husband’s name, telling him to turn around. We had already turned and did not listen to the speaker, choosing to exit from another point instead. We thought because my husband’s mobile phone was in the car, the speaker was able to call out his name.

While we ate breakfast this morning my husband said, “I forgot to buy the pickled mustard.” I said, “Why don’t you go online and buy it.” He then took out his mobile phone to search for the product. He said if you bought more, it was cheaper and you got a few packets for free. I said, “Let’s buy two packs then.” Before I even finished speaking, my husband’s phone showed the price for two packets of pickled mustard.

As we were about to pay for the purchase, my husband told me that at 2 a.m. his shoulder hurt badly. As he said this he completed the purchase. Immediately, an ad for medication for shoulder pain popped up in his phone.

My husband recalled a practitioner talking about an incident a few days ago. The practitioner’s son came home but forgot to bring his shaver. She suggested going to a local store to buy one. He said, “It’s fine.” The next morning, an ad for a shaver popped up in his phone because the phone is constantly monitoring us. My husband said, “The person eavesdropping on our mobile phone is so quick!” He was shocked. When he heard the practitioner’s sharing that day, he didn’t think much about it. Today, he truly realized how pervasive the surveillance on mobile phones is. In fact, he was blocked twice for participating in online forums.

Now, my husband no longer makes comments from his mobile phone. Today, I truly realized the extent of mobile phone surveillance and eavesdropping, and it’s true that we are constantly being monitored and watched through our mobile phones.

The above is my personal sharing, please kindly point out anything inappropriate.
