(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 5 cities or counties in 3 provinces, where at least 19 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Guohua Sentenced to One and a Half Years in Prison

Mr. Liu Guohua from the Dadong District was sentenced to one and a half years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan in late September 2024.

2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Gangli’s Family Visits Restricted by the Prison

Ms. Liu Gangli is serving a 4.5-year term at the Liaoning Province Second Women’s Prison. She is scheduled to be released in June 2025. As she refuses to renounce Falun Gong, the prison restricted her family visits. The family’s latest visit in early October 2024 lasted for only ten minutes, and it was three months apart from the previous visit. According to the law, regular inmates can get two family visits per month. The letters her family wrote to her were intercepted by the prison authorities.

3. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yao Yan Detained

Ms. Yao Yan was arrested at home by eight officers from the Changyi District Police Department at 7 a.m. on September 8, 2024. She was taken to the Jilin City Detention Center the next day.

4. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Xia Shuying Detained

Ms. Xia Shuying was arrested by officers from the Linnancang Police Station, when she was talking to people about Falun Gong at Linnancang Market in Yutian County on the morning of October 7, 2024. She was given 15 days in the Yutian County Lockup.

5. [Beijing] Updates on the Fourteen Practitioners and Two Family Members Arrested in One Day

Among the fourteen Falun Gong Practitioners and two family members arrested on September 23, 2024, seven practitioners, including Ms. Zhang Xiuhua, Ms. Liu Yuling, Ms. Zhang Xiulan, and Ms. Wang Chaoying, Ms. Zhang Yanrong, Ms. Wu Zhenye and Mr. Hao Xiufeng, have been released.

Six practitioners, including Ms. Liang Fengying, Ms. Zhang Yan and her two sisters, Ms. Xi Ping, and Ms. Wu Fangling, were taken to the Yanqing Case Handling Center and given 15 days of administration detention. Ms. Zhang and Ms. Wu were denied admission and released later that day.

The two family members, Mr. Guo Zhenfang (Ms. Wang’s husband) and Mr. Wang Jianmin (Ms. Wu’s husband), both of whom don't practice Falun Gong, were released on bail.

The status of Ms. Yang Xiulan is unclear.

6. [Beijing] Ms. Li Yan Arrested

Ms. Li Yan from Dongcheng District was arrested at home by three plainclothes officers at 9 a.m. on September 23, 2024. The police searched the home but didn’t find anything. The police revealed that they were monitoring her conversations with other Falun Gong practitioners in Yanqing District, Beijing, on WeChat. She was released in the evening.

7. [Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Zhenshui Arrested

Mr. Li Zhenshui was arrested by officers from the Qianying Township Police Station on August 18, 2024, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong at Xizebei Market in Qianying Township, Xinji City. He was taken to the police station for interrogation and released later that day. The police raided his home two days later, confiscating several Falun Gong books and extorting 300 yuan from him.

8. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Xiujie Arrested

Ms. Wang Xiujie, 51, was arrested at the gate of her own neighborhood at 5 p.m. on September 6, 2024, by officers from the Tawan Police Station in Huanggu District and the Huanggu District Domestic Security Division. She was released on September 30, 2024.
