1. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Chen Jinqing Sentenced to 3.5 Years in Prison

Ms. Chen Jinqing, 72, from Tianhe District, was arrested by officer Lai Ganwen from the Tianhe District Domestic Security Division and officers from the Xinghua Police Station at around 9 a.m. on February 24, 2023. She was held in Tianhe District Detention Center. The Haizhu District Court sentenced her to three years and six months in prison with a 5,000-yuan fine on September 19, 2024.

2. [Tianjin] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhao Fei and Ms. Liu Lihua from Shigezhuang Town, Wuqing District were reported to the police on the morning of October 2, 2024 for distributing Falun Gong materials. They were arrested by officers from the Wuqing District Domestic Security Division and Shigezhuang Town Police Station. The officers confiscated many of Ms. Zhao’s Falun Gong books, amulet cards, small gourd pendants, and flash drives.

Ms. Zhao was criminally detained in Wuqing District Detention Center, while Ms. Liu was given 15 days of administrative detention.

On the morning of September 24, 2024, Ms. Zhu Xiaoying from Dongmafang Village, Baigutun Town, Wuqing District was arrested by four officers from the Yongcheng County Domestic Security Division in Shangqiu City, Henan Province. It’s not clear why the police in Henan were involved in her case.

3. [Li County, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhao Jiuzhou Taken to an Unknown Location After 15 Days of Detention

Mr. Zhao Jiuzhou was arrested at home by officers from the Li County Domestic Security Division and the Chengguan Police Station on September 23, 2024. He was held in the Li County Detention Center, where he suffered a recurrence of epilepsy. Fifteen days later on October 7, officers from the Li County Domestic Security Division transferred Mr. Zhao from the detention center to a secret location, without revealing the address to his family.

4. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Nie Zhongyong Held in Detention Center

Mr. Nie Zhongyong, 78 and a native of Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, was arrested on August 16, 2024, by officers from Qingyang District Police Department in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, at a bus stop at the Taisheng Road intersection in Chengdu City. He is currently held in Chengdu City Detention Center.

5. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Su Guizhi Arrested

Ms. Su Guizhi was reported to the police on June 15, 2023, when she was talking to people about Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken to the Desheng Police Station. The police photographed her and ransacked her home.

6. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Xudong and Ms. Zhang Ying Placed Under Residential Surveillance

Mr. Zhang Xudong and his older sister Ms. Zhang Ying were arrested on September 7, 2024. Mr. Zhang was held in the Tiexi District Detention Center and Ms. Zhang at the Shenyang City First Detention Center. They were released on October 7 and October 8, 2024, respectively, and placed under residential surveillance for six months.

7. [Huanggang City, Hubei Province] Several Practitioners’ Homes Ransacked

Officers from the Huangzhou District Domestic Security Division broke into the home of Ms. Yu Guijiao and her husband in September 2024, confiscating their informational materials about Falun Gong.

In the same month, the police also raided the homes of Ms. Xiong Muzhen and Ms. Fan Baozhen. Ms. Xiong’s Falun Gong book and wall calendar with information about Falun Gong, and Ms. Fan’s Falun Gong books and 3,000 yuan paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them, were confiscated.

8. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Maoxia Admitted to Prison

Ms. Zhang Maoxia of Tangshan City, Hebei Province was staying in her daughter’s home in Tianjin for the past few years. She was arrested on July 5, 2023 by officers from Nanhai Road Police Station, Binhai New Area, Tianjin, and later sentenced to three years in prison. She was transferred from the Binhai New Area Detention Center to the fifth division in Tianjin Women’s Prison on August 14, 2024.
