(Minghui.org) While speaking to people about Dafa, I have met several active-duty and retired military men who, after learning the facts, chose without hesitation to renounce their memberships in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). I would like to share a few of their truly inspiring stories.
I once encountered a middle-aged man at a traffic light and struck up a conversation with him about Falun Dafa. He looked around cautiously, then lowered his voice to tell me he was an active-duty lieutenant colonel. He told me his family had practiced Buddhism for generations.
He had already read Falun Dafa informational pamphlets and materials online and knew that Falun Dafa is freely practiced abroad. He admired the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and confided in me that he had long wanted to renounce the CCP but hadn’t found a way to do so. When I offered to help him quit, he gratefully accepted, expressing relief at finally being able to.
I learned that the driver of the taxi I was in was a retired battalion commander. Even though he given a job after military service, he had to drive a taxi after work to support his family. As we spoke, I shared the truth about Falun Dafa with him. When he learned that I had been a college lecturer before I retired, he was surprised to hear that someone with my level of education practiced Falun Dafa. That didn’t line up with the CCP’s lies.
I explained the core principles of Falun Dafa and how its teachings benefit society. I also told him how the former leader, Jiang Zemin, launched the persecution out of jealousy and how the CCP’s propaganda, including the staged self-immolation incident, was used to demonize Falun Dafa.
After hearing all this, the driver exclaimed how wonderful Falun Dafa was and readily agreed to withdraw from the CCP, saying he felt fortunate to be able to.
After I told another taxi driver who had served in the military about Falun Dafa and the corrupt nature of the CCP, he shared his own grievance. As a high school student, he had been misled by the CCP’s propaganda promising a great future in the military. So he joined the military instead of going to college, as his parents had hoped he would do.
After more than a decade of service, he retired and took a job at a company that soon went bankrupt. The government offered no support, and, with limited education, he had no choice but to drive a taxi to support his family. He still lived with his in-laws, unable to afford his own home.
When I mentioned quitting the CCP, he eagerly agreed. Not only did he want to renounce his membership, but he also expressed his hope for the CCP’s downfall.
Practitioner Ying and I struck up a conversation with a tall elderly gentleman who stood very straight. When we learned he was a retired division commander, Ying thanked him for his service to the country. She then told him about the goodness of Falun Dafa and the evil nature of the CCP. He listened thoughtfully, nodding from time to time. Ying encouraged him to withdraw from the CCP for a better future, and he agreed immediately.
On another occasion, we met a couple in their 60s at a bus stop and began talking to them about Falun Dafa. The man told us he had read many Falun Dafa materials and admired the practice. When Ying asked him if he had quit the CCP, he said had not but was now eager to do so. He also encouraged his wife to renounce the CCP, and she agreed. We gave them auspicious pseudonyms to quit, and they enjoyed calling each other by these names.
