Mr. Ma Zufu was arrested by the Lanzhou City police and put into Jingtai Detention Center on July 13, 2024. He was tried on August 6, 2024, and sentenced to 18 months in prison. He was abused in the detention center. As a result, he had difficulty walking, his depression worsened, and he developed mental confusion. He was transferred to Lanzhou Prison on the morning of November 4, 2024.
Ms. Li Cong, 44, was sentenced to six years in prison on May 31, 2019. During the first two years in the Jilin Province Women’s Prison, she was subjected to a variety of torture methods, including being forced to sit on a small stool without moving for hours or being restrained on a death bed. The inmates also put a toilet brush into her mouth. In the winter, they opened the windows, stripped all her clothes, and poured cold water on her. As a result of the torture, she lost the ability to walk and suffered incontinence.
Mr. Wu Bo of Changtu County was scheduled to stand trial in Changtu County Court at 9 a.m. on November 8, 2024.
Ms. Cui Huifang and her family were harassed by officers from the Shouquan Police Station in Huanggu District on the afternoon of October 29, 2024. She was ordered to report to the residential district office and sign a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong. She refused to comply.
Ms. Zhang Chunying, 60, copied articles written by the founder of Falun Gong in a copy shop in early September 2024 and was reported by the owner. Seven officers arrested her at home and ransacked her place. She was detained for two weeks.
Dawen, a female practitioner in Dagudian Village, Hancun Town, Mancheng District, was arrested on November 2, 2024. She was released that night.
Ms. Wen Qingfang was admitted to the 14th division of the Hebei Province Women’s Prison on December 17, 2023, to serve a three-year term. Despite that she was unable to walk and suffered significant vision decline due to the torture in custody, the guards still forced her to work every day without pay. They also instructed the inmates to add unknown drugs to the scarce food given to her.
