(Minghui.org) Two Xingtai City, Hebei Province residents were sentenced to six months in prison by the Xiangdu District Court on April 11, 2024, for their shared faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Liu Xizhen and Ms. Wang Cuiying (also known as Wang Sanni) have been released on June 4 and September 5, 2024, respectively.
Both women were previously arrested on September 12, 2018, after being reported for hanging up banners bearing information about Falun Gong. They were held in the Xingtai City First Detention Center and later sentenced to eight months with a 2,000-yuan fine each. They were released on May 12, 2019.
They were arrested together again on September 25, 2022 and later released on bail. The police submitted their cases to the Xiangdu District Procuratorate on September 7, 2023, and they were released on bail the next day.
To avoid further persecution, Ms. Wang lived away from home to hide from the police, and was put on the wanted list. She was arrested on March 6, 2024 and taken to the Xingtai City First Detention Center.
Ms. Liu escaped an arrest attempt on October 12, 2023, only to be seized by the police on December 4, 2023 and taken to the Xingtai City First Detention Center.
Both Ms. Wang and Ms. Liu appeared in court on April 11, 2024 and sentenced to six months in prison.
