(Minghui.org) Shortly before the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Dafa in 1999, Master Li told us at the conference in Chicago:

“Under trying circumstances of any type, you must all keep steady in thought. Just by staying unaffected you will be able to handle all situations.” (“Teachings at the Midwestern U.S. Conference”)

To experienced Dafa practitioners at the time, this teaching meant that we should not react to ordeals by becoming agitated or emotional like everyday people would. At the same time, it did not mean that we should do nothing to safeguard the Fa when tribulations occurred.

Master also wrote:

“Be resolute cultivating Dafa, the mind unstirredClimbing in levels is what’s fundamentalFaced with tests, a person’s true character is revealedMay you Consummate—      a Buddha, Dao, or God(“A True Character Is Revealed,” Hong Yin II)

Now that we see the tribulation facing Dafa in the United States, we should still take Master’s words as our guidance: “Just by staying unaffected you will be able to handle all situations.” Even if we did not fully understand this teaching back in 1999, it is now time for us to comprehend it with righteous thoughts rather than human notions.

This means that we need to pay attention to sending righteous thoughts and utilizing supernormal abilities effectively. For example, we should take care not to doze off with our hands falling sideways while sending forth righteous thoughts.

Some practitioners have asked what we should target when sending righteous thoughts. In my opinion, we could focus on the communist specter at the source of the tribulation, or evil entities that manipulate people to attack Shen Yun and carry out transnational repression against Falun Dafa. These are valid targets, and clearing them out would be acts of compassion.

In addition, Master said that our righteous thoughts should be “...encompassing everything and leaving out nothing in any dimension.” (“Righteous Thoughts,” The Essentials of Diligent Progress III) When used along with the formulas for sending righteous thoughts, this can help us to fully eliminate the evil elements in other dimensions.
