(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 5 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 5 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Wang Jianqi lives in Beijing Village, Yangquanzi Township, Panshan County. He was arrested when he talked to people about Falun Gong in the Shishan Market in Linghai City at 9 a.m. on February 2, 2024.
Ms. Ren Chunlian was arrested by officers from the Jitai Police Station in October 2022 for posting Falun Dafa information in public places. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated her printer, computer, around 1000 yuan in cash, and her Falun Gong books. Ms. Ren was held for two days in the police station but was let go due to pandemic after being placed under residential surveillance.
Ms. Ren was taken away by Jitai Police Station officers on August 1, 2023. They took her to the Weifang City Detention Center the next day, but she was denied admission due to her health and was released on bail pending trial. Ms. Ren left home to avoid further persecution.
Mr. Yu Chonghua, in his 50s, from the Xinfu District was arrested in Yuanping City on August 16, 2019, and sentenced to four and a half years in prison by the Xinfu District Court. Mr. Yu has been incarcerated in the Qi County Prison since 2021 and will be released on February 15, 2024.
Ms. Ma Xiujuan, in her 50s, was sentenced to one year in prison by the Xinfu District Court of Xinzhou City in 2023. She was admitted to the Xinfu District Detention Center and will be released on February 25, 2024.
Ms. Qin Shaohua from the Jiangbei District was reported to the police for distributing calendars with information about Falun Gong. The police identified her via surveillance cameras and went to her home that evening. She was taken to the Tanjiagang Police Station for interrogation and was released around 11 p.m.
Her husband started receiving phone calls from the Tanjiagang Police Station on January 20, 2024, asking about Ms. Qin. She left home to avoid further persecution. The police and local community staff members went to her home regularly and harassed her family.
