(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 24 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Three practitioners were sentenced to prison by the Chuanshan District Court on March 18, 2024.
Ms. Du Yingfen, 70, was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison and fined 5,000 yuan.
Ms. Deng Xiugui, 74, was sentenced to one year and two months in prison and fined 3,000 yuan.
Ms. Yang Guihua, 76, was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 2,000 yuan.
Ms. Deng has appealed. Ms. Yang was taken to a detention center that day. Ms. Du and Ms. Deng returned home due to their poor health.
Mr. Qin Shuhai was held at the Yi County Detention Center where he was abused. At 3 a.m. on April 3, 2024, he developed symptoms of a stroke and lost control of one leg and one arm. Detention center officials called Mr. Qin’s son and told him to come to the detention center to pay for Mr. Qin’s medical treatment. They took Mr. Qin to Yi County Chinese Medicine Hospital for a brain CT scan. They bought medicine and gave him injections at the detention center.
Someone from the Linghai City Court went to the detention center about ten days ago and said that Mr. Qin would be sentenced to prison.
Ms. Liu Yulan developed symptoms of high blood pressure in the detention center. Her blood pressure reached 190-200 mmHg.
Mr. Zhao Jun will be tried by the Aimin District Court at 1:30 p.m. on April 12, 2024.
Liu Zhiming (gender unknown) from the Xishan District was arrested on November 16, 2023, and is being held in Xishan District Detention Center.
Ms. Gao Xiuhua, nearly 70, from Huangdao District, was reported to the police in late September 2023 when she was distributing Falun Gong materials. She was arrested by officers from the Lingshanwei Police Station. The officers went to her home and confiscated Falun Gong books and 500 yuan paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them. Ms. Gao returned home that evening.
Ms. Gao was later tried twice by the Huangdao District Court, but specific circumstances are not available. She was transferred to the Pudong Detention Center in the Jimo District on March 20, 2024. She was sentenced to one and a half years in prison by the Pudong Court. She is being held in the Pudong Detention Center.
Shao Wenfeng, political head of Hujiachi Township Police Station, and another police officer broke into Mr. Li Wanning’s home in Dongli Village, Dafengying Township, arrested him, and took him to the Shenzhou City Detention Center. Mr. Li was detained for 15 days.
Seven officers from the Changshou District Domestic Security Division and the Taohua Police Station broke into Che Rongqing’s home in the Dongfangzhijiao Residential Community at around 8 p.m. on April 2, 2024. They ransacked the place without showing a search warrant. They confiscated more than 10 Falun Gong books, more than 30 recent articles written by the founder of Falun Gong, and dozens of printed materials.
At the same time practitioners Che Rongqing, Zhou Guangrong, and Gao Shuhua were taken to Changshou District Police Department for interrogation. Three practitioners were released at around 4 a.m. on April 3, and have returned home.
Ms. Wang Sufang, a household helper, was arrested at Ms. Zhang Fenglan’s home in Suizhong County where she worked, by officers from the Jichang Police Station on April 4, 2024. The police ransacked Ms. Zhang’s home and confiscated her Falun Gong books. Ms. Wang returned home that day.
Ms. Lai Hanmei and Ms. Zhang Tiexiu were reported to the police when they were talking to people about Falun Gong in the downtown area on the morning of March 30, 2024. They were arrested and taken to the Dongmaoling Police Station. The police brought the informant to the police station to identify the two practitioners. When the police brought them home that afternoon, they confiscated two Falun Gong books and several TF cards from their homes.
Ms. Zhang Xiaohua, 75, a retired employee of Hubei University in Xujiapeng Sub-district, Wuchang District, and Ms. Qian, 76, who lives near Yujiahu Community, are Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Zhang and Ms. Qian were reading the Falun Gong teachings at Hu’s home in the Sanjiaolu Community at around 4 p.m. on November 25, 2023 when Wuhan police broke in and took the nine people who were there to various police stations for interrogation. That night, Ms. Zhang and Ms. Qian were picked up by their family members.
Ms. Zhang and Ms. Qian’s homes were ransacked around Chinese New Year’s Day, February 10, 2024, and they were taken to the Wuhan Brainwashing Center. Ms. Qian returned home in March. The location of the brainwashing center where Ms. Zhang was held and details of the persecution she experienced are not available.
