(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 19 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Yuan Junhua, who has been living away from home since late 2023 to avoid a court trial, was followed by police and arrested at her rental apartment on June 13, 2024. She is scheduled to appear in Shouguang City Court at 9 a.m. on July 4, 2024.
The case against Mr. Yang Jiangwei from Shuizhong County was submitted to the Lianshan District Procuratorate on June 21, 2024.
Ms. Xiao Yingxue was scheduled to be released on June 22, 2024, after serving a 15-day detention. However, when her family went to the detention center to pick up her, they were told that she had been transferred to somewhere else and the authorities refused to inform them of her current detention location.
Ms. Zhang Xiufang was arrested at home at noon on June 21, 2024. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated two computers and some Falun Gong books. She is currently held at the Liaoyuan City Detention Center.
Ms. Fan Chunhua, around 70, was arrested two months ago. Her current whereabouts is unknown.
Ms. Yang Yuzhen from Hanyang District was arrested at home on June 25, 2024. She was given a 5-day detention and it’s not clear whether she has been released at the time of writing.
Mr. Wang Jingzhong was transferred from the Panjin Prison to the Jinzhou Prison on June 17, 2024. He was previously sentenced to four years by the Linghai City Court.
Ms. Wang Hongxia and Ms. Wang Yuzhen were arrested when they talked to people about Falun Gong on June 13, 2024. Ms. Wang Yuzhen was released at midnight that day and Ms. Wang Hongxia was taken to the Fushun City Detention Center.
Ms. Zhang Haizhen, 76 of Huangpi District, was arrested at home by three plainclothes officers on the morning of March 28, 2024. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books, the portrait of Falun Gong’s founder, media player, and other personal belongings.
Ms. Zhang was taken to the Qianchuan Street Police Station for interrogation. She was photographed, videotaped, and had her blood sample taken. After being detained in a health center for one day, she was taken to a nursing home on Caizha Street, Huangpi District. She was isolated in a room and ordered to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong.
Mr. Qu Pengcheng and Fu Chongchun were followed by officers from Gongchangling District and arrested on May 18, 2024. They are currently detained in the Liaoyang Detention Center.
Mr. Qu’s home was ransacked. The police confiscated three laptops, one desktop computer, four boxes of printing paper, 50 Falun Gong books, around 10,000 yuan of paper bills printed with information about Falun Gong (as a novel way to raise awareness about the persecution), around 1,000 USB drives and three printers.
Zhang Jianqiu from Penglai District was arrested when talking to people about Falun Gong in a market on June 24, 2024. Zhang’s home was ransacked. Zhang was detained 13 days.
Mr. Zhang Yongshan, 79, was beaten by his son and other family members on June 1, 2024, for refusing to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong. He managed to run away from home at noon that day and hid at a fellow practitioner’s home. After his son found him, he threatened to call the police. Mr. Zhang returned home on June 6, 2024.
Three practitioners from Yaolaowo Village of Xinglong Town, Ms. Gu Chunying, Ms. Xu Shuyan, and Ms. Chen Suling, were arrested by officers from the Xinglong Town Police Station on May 18, 2024. Their homes were ransacked. The three practitioners, all over 70, had been released after a brief detention.
Ms. Tian Lanyu from Xixiakou Village, Chengshan Town, was reported for talking to a student about Falun Gong in a bus station and arrested by officers from the Longxudao Police Station on May 19, 2024. Ms. Huang Xianqian who came with Ms. Tian, was also arrested. Both practitioners’ homes were ransacked. They were released later that day.
