(Minghui.org) Torture is an egregious abuse of human rights. The United Nations has consistently stated that torture is one of the most despicable acts perpetrated by human beings against their fellow human beings. “Torturers must never be allowed to get away with their crimes, and systems that enable torture should be dismantled or transformed,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
June 26 is the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. On that day this year, Falun Gong practitioners held an information day event in the Châtelet neighborhood in the center of Paris.
Passersby and tourists had an opportunity to learn about Falun Gong and that its practitioners in China have been persecuted since July 1999. They have been imprisoned, sent to forced labor camps, prevented from studying and working, held in psychiatric hospitals, physically tortured in all kinds of ways, and, most heinously, even been subjected to forced organ harvesting.
People condemned the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) crimes of persecuting Falun Gong and signed the petition to support the practitioners’ efforts to call for an end to the persecution.

People signed the petition protesting the persecution to show their support.
Edward, a tourist from Canada, had already heard about Falun Gong. He said, “Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are the principles of Falun Dafa cultivation. They have been passed down for thousands of years. Forbearance is endurance and tolerance and it is a great virtue.”
Dawba Beldjilali, a medical student, said that the persecution was inhumane. “Whatever a person’s belief or practice, it is their personal choice. The persecution should be stopped. These practitioners’ beliefs are very noble, and the principles they follow are very important.”
Emanuelle Leveau, a nurse, said that live organ harvesting was horrific and cruel. She said she wanted to tell the people she knew the truth about how China has “developed”. She remembered that, before the COVID-19 outbreak in China, several people there had sounded the alarm, but they suddenly disappeared. People couldn’t say what what was happening because there is no freedom in China.
Imen Amarade is a college student majoring in economics. She said that she did not know what was happening in China in the past but that it is important to know the truth. She hoped that Falun Gong practitioners would let more people know the truth. When people who do not know the truth do business with the CCP, it is the same as giving money to the persecutors and helping them to do evil.
Aysin Onder, who is studying audio-visual film, praised the practitioners for doing a good job with introducing the Falun Gong cultivation system to people, exposing the CCP’s persecution, and telling people the truth.
