(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Xiao Hua from Daohe Town, 64, was arrested on September 19, 2023 and detained in the Mudanjiang City Detention Center. She was sentenced to three years and six months in prison by the Hailin City Court on December 22, 2023. Her appeal was rejected by the intermediate court on April 15, 2024. She has been admitted to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison in Harbin City.
Ms. Li Suzhen from the Paoya Residential Community was arrested at home by four officers from the Qingniwaqiao Police Station in Zhongshan District on the afternoon of July 18, 2024. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her computer and printer. Her husband was also arrested and released on the same day. Ms. Li was detained at the Jinjiajie Lockup for ten days.
Ms. Yao Zhifeng is a resident in Xiaoyangzhuang Village, Hebeitun Town, Wuqing District, Tianjin City. She was initially arrested on May 24, 2022 for distributing Falun Gong materials. She was forced to live away from home for a year to avoid persecution, but was later arrested by officers from the Yucai Road Police Station and taken to the Daliang Town Police Station for interrogation. Due to her poor health condition, she was released on July 12, 2024 and placed under residential surveillance by the Hebeitun Police Station. She was harassed at home on July 21 and summoned to the procuratorate on July 24.
Mr. Wang Hongwei from Qingyuan County was placed under criminal detention in the Dalian City Detention Center by the Shahekou District Police Department on July 13, 2024.
Zhou Yuan was harassed at home on April 17, 2024, and some of personal belongings were confiscated. Zhou was interrogated in the police department and released on the same day.
Mr. Peng Jianpu, 75, was sentenced to six years in prison and fined 3,000 yuan by the Hailin City Court two years ago. He was released on bail for medical treatment because of high blood pressure. Bailiffs from the Hailin City Court seized him at home on July 18, 2024 and took him to the hospital for a medical exam. The results of his medical exam are not clear, and it is not known whether he was admitted to prison.
Ms. Chen Yufeng was arrested at her workplace in July 2024.
Ms. Wang Wei and Ms. Zhao Xilan were followed and arrested on July 11, 2024 by officers from the Jiefang Police Station, Huxi Police Station, and Sujiatun District Domestic Security Division. They are currently detained in the Zaohua Detention Center.
Shan Wenren was arrested at home by four out-of-town officers on July 12, 2024 and has since been detained. Shan’s home was ransacked.
Mr. Guo Zhanlong and his wife Ms. Xu Xiaohua were arrested at home in Kuancheng County at 4 a.m. on July 12, 2024, by six officers including Ma Fei and Li Dongsheng from the Kuancheng County Police Department. The couple’s home was ransacked. The police confiscated their Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and a media player.
On the same day, three practitioners from the Xiliyuan Village of Dashizhuzi Township, including Ms. Bai Cuihua, Ms. Kong Lingjuan, and Ms. Liu Shuge, were arrested.
Mr. Guo and Ms. Liu were released due to their high blood pressure, and Ms. Bai was taken to Chengde City for detention. Ms. Xu and Ms. Kong were each given 14 days of detention, but the location isn’t clear.
Ms. Li Jinshuang was arrested at home by officers from the Baxi District Police Department and security personnel from the Second Oil Production Plant of North China Petroleum. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, laptop computer, and her e-bike key. She was interrogated and later released after having a medical condition while in custody.
Wang Xiaohui from Honghuagang was arrested in the rented apartment on the evening of July 18, 2024. The police confiscated the Falun Gong books, informational materials, and the paper bills printed with information about Falun Gong.
