(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
As soon Ms. Liu Duanhui walked out of the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison on September 4, 2024, after serving a one-year term for practicing Falun Gong, she was seized by officers from Ganjingzi Street Police Station and taken straight to the police station. The 69-year-old woman has been held at the police station ever since.
Ms. Huang Yindi, in her 60s, from the Chengxigang District was arrested by Yong’an Township Police Station officers on September 4, 2024. Her home was ransacked. Her Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, among other personal items, were confiscated. Ms. Huang was not in good health and has been taken to the Balihu New Area Supervision Hospital.
Ms. Mei Junkun went on a hunger strike after she was arrested by Wuyi Road Police Station officers on April 18, 2024. She became extremely weak and was released under house arrest on April 28. The police threatened to take her back into custody if she goes out. She is now facing indictment after the police submitted her case to the Qiaodong District Procuratorate on July 25.
Ms. Liu Nianhua, 60, a retired medical staff member of Macheng City Traditional Chinese Hospital, was released on June 6, 2024, after serving a 16-month prison term for talking to people about Falun Gong. Back home, she was under tight surveillance by the police. She was not allowed to leave Macheng City and her phone was monitored 24/7.
As of August 2024, the Macheng City Social Security Center has suspended her pension payment without any prior notice or explanation, leaving her in dire financial straits.
It’s been confirmed by Minghui.org that Ms. Zhao Li from Linyi County was arrested after being reported for distributing Falun Gong materials.
Ms. Han Jinhua from Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, was arrested in late August 2024 at her son’s home in Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province. The Xi’an police arrested her because she was recorded by a surveillance camera distributing Falun Gong materials.
Four plainclothes officers broke into the home of 87-year-old Ms. Fan Huifang in the Second District of Changchun Automobile Works on the morning of May 17, 2024. They ransacked her home. Ms. Fan put her life on the line to resist their intrusion by extending her arms to prevent the police from entering the room where she kept her Falun Gong books. Given her age, the officers relented and left.
That same day, the police raided the homes of two other practitioners, Li Wenying and Huang, who studied Falun Gong’s teaching with Ms. Fan. Both Li and Huang’s Falun Gong books were confiscated.
Ms. Tian Haiying was arrested on August 20, 2024. Due to her dangerously high blood pressure, the detention center refused to admit her and she was taken to the Balihu Supervised Hospital, which is affiliated with the police. When she was discharged on September 5, 2024, Chaisang District Domestic Security Division officers interrogated her and took her to the Jiujiang City Detention Center to serve a 15 days of administrative detention.
Ms. Ying Xiuzhen was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong on August 28, 2021. She was arrested by Cheng Hao and several other officers from the Wenfeng Police Station in the Tinghu District. Her home was ransacked and a cell phone without a SIM card was confiscated. The police interrogated her at the Tinghu District Law Enforcement Center and then took her to the Yancheng City Detention Center. She was released on bail on the evening of September 4.
Ms. Yang Zixiang, about 80 years old, from the Fangzi District was arrested by officer Liu Guangyong from the Domestic Security Division and plainclothes officers from the Heng’an Police Station for talking to people about Falun Gong at a farmers market on August 21, 2024. The officers confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong and a copy of Hong Yin. She was released the same day.
A few days later, the officers took Ms. Yang to the Fangzi District Procuratorate. The prosecutor said he had already indicted her and ordered her to sign paperwork about her case. She refused to cooperate and was allowed to go home later that day.
Beginning in late August 2024, many practitioners in Yuanjiang reported being harassed by the police. Following the arrest of Mr. Wang Zhiwei on August 27, Mr. Wang Qianghui (no relation) was arrested in early September 2024. Details about Mr. Wang Qianghui’s case aren’t clear.
Feng Shenghui from the Nanjin Road Police Station and three other officers broke into Ms. Qi Xiulan’s home on the morning of September 6, 2024. They ordered her to cooperate with them to shoot a video of her promising not to practice Falun Gong anymore. They promised to stop harassing her if she renounced Falun Gong. She refused to comply, so the police took a video of her husband, who doesn’t practice Falun Gong, and forced him to renounce Falun Gong on her behalf.
