(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shifang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhu Chaobing Sentenced to One Year, Allowed to Serve Time Outside of Prison

4. [Yongkang City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Ying Jinhua Arrested
5. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wu Junfeng Arrested 
6. [Zhongwei City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Nine Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

1. [Shifang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chao Bing Sentenced to One Year, Allowed to Serve Time Outside of Prison

Ms. Zhu Chaobing from Nanquan Town, 76, was arrested by officers from the Shigu Town Police Station on the morning of June 4, 2024, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong in Shigu Town. The police searched her and confiscated informational materials about Falun Gong, 20 yuan paper bills printed with Falun Gong facts and four amulets. She was released in the afternoon.

Ms. Zhu was taken to the Deyang Detention Center by two officers from the Shigu Police Station and an agent from the Shifang City Procuratorate on August 5, 2024. She was detained for 15 days. 

Several days after her release, Ms. Zhu was taken to the Shifang City Court for a trial and was sentenced to one year. The judge allowed her to serve time outside of prison, but ordered her son to monitor her.

2. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Dong Minglan and Mr. Liu Rongpin Arrested

Ms. Dong Minglan, in her 40s, was arrested at home around 8 p.m. on September 11, 2024. Mr. Liu Rongpin, 56, was also arrested at home that same evening.

3. [Tianjin] Ms. Yao Zhifeng Faces Harassment and Prison Sentence

Ms. Yao Zhifeng from Xiaoyang Village, Hebeitun, 73, was arrested in 2022 by officers from the Daliang Township Police Station for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. To avoid continued police harassment following her release, she was forced to live away from home for a year. During the time she was away, the police harassed her family every two weeks, leaving the family under tremendous pressure. 

More than 20 people from the Wuqing District Procuratorate, Wuqing District Court, Daliang Township Police Station and Hebeitun Police Station showed up at Ms. Yao’s home on September 14, 2024 and took her to the village office for a hearing. It’s not clear whether she was sentenced.

The police attempted to detain Ms. Yao, but had to release her after she was found to be unfit for detention.

4. [Yongkang City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Ying Jinhua Arrested 

Ms. Ying Jinhua, who worked at the Oujia Supermarket, was arrested on June 27, 2024, for talking to a police officer who pretended to be a customer about Falun Gong. She has been held at the Yongkang City Detention Center since. Her arrest came only a year after she finished serving a previous prison term for practicing Falun Gong.

5. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wu Junfeng Arrested

Mr. Wu Junfeng was arrested by officers from the Yaoshan Police Station on September 14, 2024. He is currently held at the Jinan City Detention Center.

6. [Zhongwei City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Nine Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Nine practitioners were sentenced to prison, from two years to six years, by the Shapptou District Court on May 6, 2023. Seven of these practitioners, including Ms. Yang Jie, Mr. Zheng Yongxin, Ms. Chang Xiu’e, Ms. Jing Yuling, Ms. Huang Yuxia, Ms. Wang Shunqin, and Ms. Wen Yuxiu, appealed with the Zhongwei City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold their original verdicts on July 17, 2023.

At the time of writing, Ms. Huang and Ms. Jing were released on April 24 and August 24, 2024, respectively; Ms. Wen is serving time at home; Ms. Yang, Ms. Chang, and Ms. Zhang Yulian are still detained in the Ningxia Women’s Prison; and the situations of Mr. Zheng, Ms. Wang and Ms. Wen Jing aren’t clear.

7. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zeng Biying Harassed

Ms. Zeng Biying, 79, was harassed at home by four people from local police station and residential committee in early September 2024. Two Falun Gong books were confiscated.

8. [Xiangyang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Yuxiang Harassed

Ms. Liu Yuxiang was harassed at home by five officers from the Jianghan Police Station and three staffers from the Xiangmian Community on the morning of September 10, 2024. They took photos of her home and confiscated two Falun Gong books and a media player.
