The family spent more than 20,000 yuan on her medical expenses. She had lingering mobility issues after the surgery.
The police harassed Ms. Liu at home during the 2008 Summer Olympics, disrupting her family’s normal life.
More than ten agents broke into her home on May 12, 2009, and ordered her to renounce Falun Gong. The police came at her again on May 26, 2015, and detained her for an unknown amount of time.
Ms. Liu’s daughter-in-law reported to the police at an unknown time saying that she was studying Falun Gong books all day long. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books and sent her to a nursing home. She died there around December 2021.
