(Minghui.org) A 68-year-old resident of Huidong County, Guangdong Province, was arrested in 2024 (exact date unknown) for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Minghui.org recently learned that the arresting officers from the Huidong County Domestic Security Division put Mr. He Jingru, a mentally healthy man, in the Huizhou City Psychiatric Hospital. Huizhou City oversees Huidong County. Other details of the case are unclear.
In the persecution of Falun Gong, mentally healthy practitioners are often taken to psychiatric hospitals and subjected to involuntary administration of psychiatric drugs, which can result in long-lasting damage to them.
This is not the first time that Mr. He has been targeted for his faith, which he credits for changing his hot temper and restoring his health. Prior to his latest persecution episode, he served a three-year forced labor term (January 2001 – January 2004) and three five-year prison terms (July 2003 – July 2008, January 2010 – January 2015, and April 2017 – April 2022).
During his cumulative 18-year prior detentions, Mr. He was subjected to numerous forms of torture, such as savage beatings, being scalded with boiling water, water-boarding, involuntary administration of toxic drugs that damaged his central nervous system, being hung up, and sleep deprivation. His arm was broken after a beating session in 2012, while he was serving his second prison term. See the related reports for details of his suffering.
Years of incarceration and torture reduced Mr. He, a horticultural worker and once a basketball player, from a healthy man to one in dire health. He managed to survive his third prison term, only to be arrested again two years after he was released.
