Ms. Qin Fang, a resident of Emei City, Sichuan Province, took up Falun Gong in 1996. She was arrested in February 2000, while doing Falun Gong exercises in public. She was given 15 days of administrative detention.
In June 2000, Ms. Qin went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested. After being escorted back to Sichuan, she was given one year of forced labor. After she was released, she was under close surveillance. Her home was once raided by the police.
Ms. Qin was arrested in 2012 while distributing Falun Gong informational materials in neighboring Jiaxiang County. Her home was raided and she was later sentenced to seven years.
After being released from the Sichuan Province Women’s Prison, Ms. Qin still faced constant harassment from the police. Her health declined and she died in the spring of 2021, at the age of 59.
