(Minghui.org) I remember one night after I first obtained the Fa, that I suddenly heard a voice saying, “You are the old forces.” I had no idea what it meant at the time.

After cultivating further and deepening my understanding, I gradually realized that because my way of thinking conformed to the old universe, my cultivation was in accordance with the old forces’ arrangement. The highest level of the old forces wanted to save themselves; they carried out the persecution and thereby interfered with Fa-rectification.

I remember after I finished studying Zhuan Falun for the first time, I said to myself, “There is no way back to my heavenly abode. I can only cultivate back; otherwise, I will be eliminated and destroyed.” This was my fundamental attachment. As a consequence, my cultivation state was that I was eager to get things done, competitive, jealous, afraid of failure, afraid of being left behind, and I wanted to keep climbing up in cultivation.

Doing the three things with fundamental attachments is behaving very much like the old forces, with a selfish heart of “serving oneself.” With this thinking, studying the Fa was for my own improvement so that I didn’t fall behind, saving people was to perfect my own heavenly kingdom, and sending forth righteous thoughts was eliminating interference for my own improvement. All this was using Dafa to satisfy my own selfish interests.

Master made it very clear to us:

“The old forces have arranged for all Dafa disciples a set of their things, so if a Dafa disciple doesn’t follow Master’s requirements, he must be following the old forces’ arrangements.” (Be Clearheaded, The Essentials of Diligent Progress III)

The old forces regard Dafa disciples as ordinary cultivators, so they arrange the trials they believed were suitable for the practitioners. However we came down to assist Master in Fa-rectification and in saving sentient beings, not just for our own personal cultivation. The standard of the future universe is pure and strict. Master wants us to cultivate a selfless and altruistic righteous enlightenment, and he has already pushed all Dafa disciples who obtained the Fa before 1999 to their rightful positions, so that we have the necessary capabilities to cope with the persecution and clarify the truth.

After the persecution began, Master asked us to completely negate the old forces. If we still follow their arrangements and only care about our own personal cultivation, then the starting point for doing any of the three things will be selfish and for our own consummation. We will never be able to meet the standards of the new universe.

After July 20, 1999, personal cultivation was transformed into Fa-rectification period cultivation. I understand now that doing the three things from the standpoint of personal cultivation is for personal improvement and consummation. It is not “Fa-rectification cultivation” in the true sense, but only “personal cultivation during the Fa-rectification period.”

Master told us:

“So a Dafa disciple’s responsibilities aren’t for the sake of personal Consummation, but to save sentient beings while validating the Fa—that is a Dafa disciple’s historic mission, and that is why Dafa disciples are truly magnificent.” (Teachings From a Tour of North America)

If Dafa disciples are still in the state of personal cultivation, then the old forces will have a reason to interfere, and tribulations will increase. However, if Dafa disciples do things from the perspective of Fa-rectification cultivation and saving people, then no life can interfere, and anyone who interferes will be committing a crime.

Therefore, regarding this Fa ordeal that began in 1999 and is in a final frenzy before its end, if we can have a clear understanding, remove our fundamental attachments, send forth righteous thoughts, safeguard Dafa, and save sentient beings, the losses can be greatly reduced.
