(Minghui.org) Throughout history, cultivation was a personal endeavor in which a person just needed to cultivate for themselves and achieve their own consummation (enlightenment). The cultivation path for Dafa practitioners, however, is for the sake of others. We study the Fa together, share our understandings based on the Fa, and assist Master in saving sentient beings to better fulfill the historic responsibility entrusted to us.

Recently, practitioner Meilin’s husband was insisting they get a divorce. The surface reason was that he wanted to give their houses his ex-wife’s daughter. He feared his own daughter would not get a house when he got older. Initially, Meilin did not want to divorce, but her husband constantly made trouble, so she eventually agreed. Before they went to finalize the divorce, her husband said he would not divorce her if she gave him both houses.

Meilin did not agree. Just two hours before they were scheduled to sign the divorce, four fellow practitioners wanted to have a discussion with her based on the Fa. Everyone shared their thoughts, and they helped her clarify the true nature of the matter.

The old forces were using her husband to arrange this tribulation, to help her eliminate her attachments to personal gain and sentimentality. She, too, had said she wanted to eliminate her attachments and no longer fight with her husband by just letting him have his way. But this wish was coming from the perspective of personal cultivation. It was self-centered and lacked the aspect of saving sentient beings.

Her husband seemed to be at fault, but this was not accurate because what a person sees on a superficial level is not the truth. The truth must be seen through the Fa.

From the perspective of putting others first, her husband also benefited from her Dafa cultivation. If they divorced and he took much of their property, wouldn’t her husband lose a great deal of good fortune? In reality, he would not be getting what he truly wanted in this lifetime. He might lose something even more precious—the opportunity to support a practitioner in validating Dafa.

From a very high perspective, is it possible that her husband’s words were not his own? Is it possible that the old forces arranged for him to have the idea of wanting to get a divorce? Perhaps the people who were being led to a Dafa practitioner for salvation were her husband’s creditors from past lives, or the creditors of his ancestors? Is it also possible that the countless beings in the vast cosmic system corresponding to her husband were sending out a cry for help in wanting to be saved?

From the perspective of saving sentient beings, don’t Dafa practitioners have a responsibility to save the beings connected to their spouses and give them a good fortune?

From the perspective of Fa-rectification, this matter is not about the divorce itself. Instead, it’s an opportunity for Dafa practitioners to fulfill their mission of compassionately saving sentient beings and validating Dafa.

Everyone discussed the issue based on the Fa and supplemented each other’s understandings. Meilin’s mindset also opened up and connected with the Fa. She became much clearer about her responsibilities and mission.

Through this incident, I’ve come to realize that if a Dafa practitioner just cultivates alone and does not share experiences or cooperate with other practitioners, and only does the three things by themselves, they might appear to be very diligent on the surface. But it’s likely they will get caught up in a state of doing personal cultivation, which is an arrangement of the old forces.

When Dafa practitioners discuss things with one another, cooperate well, and help each other, they will form a large energy field, have greater wisdom, and save more sentient beings.
