Canada: Activities Held in Quebec City to Expose the Chinese Regime’s Transnational Repression

Oct. 9, 2025 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Quebec

(Minghui.org) Canadian practitioners in Quebec City held an event at the National Assembly Square on October 2 to raise awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) transnational repression of Falun Dafa. The Square is also home to the Parliament Building of Quebec, and lawmakers were in session during the event.

Practitioners from Sherbrooke and Montreal also joined the activity. By demonstrating the exercises, displaying banners, and holding a car parade, they introduced Falun Dafa and explained how practitioners were mistreated in China for their belief. Many passersby supported practitioners and some signed petitions to stop the persecution.

During the event, the practitioners held a car parade to drive around the area. The cars carried signs which had messages about the CCP’s transnational repression.

Ten vehicles took part in the tour, covering a distance of 10 kilometers. The route started at National Assembly Square and ended at Place Ste-Foy, one of Canada’s largest and busiest shopping centers, before returning to its starting place.

Nicole Milot, President of the Falun Dafa Association of Quebec City

Nicole Milot, the president for the Falun Dafa Association of Quebec, spoke during the event. She explained the serious situation of transnational repression in Quebec by the CCP against Falun Dafa practitioners.

“Since the beginning of this persecution, I myself have been a victim of interference... or I have witnessed it. For example, for a long time I received pre-recorded phone calls in Chinese at my home and office... at all hours of the day and night,” she said.

“On several occasions, our group practice sessions have also been expelled from public parks... simply because we were doing the Falun Dafa exercises,” Milot continued.

“Here in Quebec, practitioners have had their computers hacked... others have been followed and monitored. This interference also affects the Shen Yun Performing Arts show. A show that celebrates the beauty of traditional Chinese culture and denounces the crimes of the CCP – including forced live organ harvesting,” explained Milot.

Throughout Shen Yun’s 2025 tour performance, a record number of bomb threats have been sent to theaters in an attempt to stop the performances. An investigation conducted by Taiwanese authorities traced these threats to an office building owned by Huawei in China, a company that’s been known to have strong CCP ties.

“Such Interference Should Not Be Tolerated”

People sign petitions calling for an end to the CCP’s persecution.

For more than 26 years, practitioners of Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) have peacefully exposed the CCP’s crimes, both inside and outside of China. For example, in the West, practitioners established Shen Yun Performing Arts, the world’s largest classical Chinese dance and music company, which is based in New York.

In recent years the CCP ramped up its efforts to silence practitioners outside China through propaganda attacks, threats of violence, vandalism, physical harm, and other means. Many passersby were angered when they were told about this and said they were happy to help practitioners by signing the petition.

Practitioners collected about 100 signatures in a few hours. Several people commented while signing the petition, “Such interference should not be tolerated.”

Falun Dafa practitioner Micheline participated in the activity to raise awareness about the CCP’s transnational repression. She said, “I don’t want to lose our rights and freedoms. I don’t want the repression here.”

Nathalie

Falun Dafa practitioner Nathalie was happy to participate in the event and help people know about the persecution, which has extended outside China. She explained that Falun Dafa and Shen Yun Performing Arts brought huge benefits to society. She said freedom of belief should be respected and that “People should not be persecuted.”
