(Minghui.org) Having had his pension suspended since early 2020, a 76-year-old man was dealt another blow when a group of officers broke into his home on November 5, 2025 and seized his only savings, a little over 4,000 yuan in cash.
Mr. Wang Xingkai, a former teacher with the Kaizhou District Vocational Education Center, was targeted for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999.
Mr. Wang was previously arrested on August 15, 2009 and later sentenced to six years in prison. He survived brutal torture and lost all of his teeth due to beatings received in custody. He also struggled with hemorrhoids, declining memory, and numbness and swelling in his legs and feet.
In November 2019, Mr. Wang was summoned to his school to meet with the principal, who demanded that he sign some paperwork authorizing the school to deduct from his future pension benefits the amount of retirement payments that had been disbursed to him during his six years of imprisonment. Mr. Wang stated that it was his right to receive his hard-earned pension benefits, but the principal said it was a new regulation that Falun Gong practitioners are not entitled to any retirement benefits if they are imprisoned.
Pressured by the principal, Mr. Wang signed the paperwork against his will, and his pension payments were stopped starting in January 2020.
In September 2025, Mr. Wang received a letter from the Kaizhou District Social Security Bureau, ordering him to return the 258,391-yuan pension he had received during his six-year prison term. The amount did not take into account the retirement benefits suspended since January 2020.
Around 9 a.m. on November 5, 2025, several plainclothes officers and staffers from the Wenfeng Residential Community knocked on Mr. Wang’s door. After he let them in, an officer flashed a search warrant in front of him. Two others held Mr. Wang down on the sofa and the rest of the officers began to search his place. They seized the 4,000-plus yuan in cash he had, as well as a laptop, several flash drives, over ten Falun Gong books, and a music player he used when doing the Falun Gong exercises. Mr. Wang was taken to the Wenfeng Street Office and interrogated for over three hours before being released.
Prior to his arrest in 2009, Mr. Wang was arrested in 2000 by Zhaojia Police Station officers. The police searched his school dorm and confiscated photos of Falun Gong’s founder and the Falun Gong emblem, and his exercise tapes and mat. He was held at the police station for three days. The police threatened that he wasn’t allowed to practice Falun Gong anymore and fined him 200 yuan.
