(Minghui.org) A woman in Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, has been held in custody since May 2025, because she practices Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999.

Ms. Hu Yuan was arrested in mid-May 2025, together with two other Falun Gong practitioners, including Mr. Yan Jinlong, in his 80s, and Mr. Wei Yanjie. The police monitored these practitioners since late 2024, after they discovered that they were in contact with another practitioner who was under long term police surveillance. The police installed a camera outside that practitioner’s home and took photos of anyone who came to visit.

Mr. Yan was handcuffed and his laptop and printer were confiscated; he was released in the evening. Mr. Wei was detained for 12 days and then released.

Ms. Hu’s whereabouts remained unknown, as her parents passed away and her siblings lived in other cities. Minghui.org recently confirmed that she was held at the Baofeng County Detention Center since her arrest. The local procuratorate hasn’t yet approved her arrest.
