Croatia: Practitioners Learn From Each Other at Falun Dafa Experience-Sharing Conference

Nov. 5, 2025 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Croatia

(Minghui.org) The 2025 Croatia Falun Dafa Experience-Sharing Conference was held in the capital city, Zagreb, on October 19, 2025. The attendees came from Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia.

Fourteen practitioners discussed their cultivation experiences—including how they applied Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, looked inward, let go of human notions, returned to traditional values, and overcame difficulties to help save people.

Practitioners talked about their cultivation experiences.

Looking Within and Eliminating Resentment

Neven said looking inward to improve himself is a critical part of his cultivation. Whenever he had xinxing conflicts or misunderstandings during events to tell people about Falun Dafa, he analyzed other practitioners’ behavior to see what they did wrong and how they should correct themselves. “I silently complained if they didn’t agree with me. I even thought about how I would argue with them,” he recalled.

After Neven mentioned this to his wife (who is a practitioner) she suggested he directly communicate with the practitioners involved. Because of this, the couple had heated discussions. The problems were not resolved and he felt even worse. Neven realized he should look inward to see why he saw this. Just looking externally and criticizing others was not cultivation.

“Master told us the importance of looking within,” he explained. “When I focus on others, I can’t see my own shortcomings and mistakes. In fact, other practitioners serve as our mirrors so we can examine ourselves.” When he looked deeper, Neven identified many of his human notions. They included zealotry, not cultivating his speech, showing off, blaming others, and looking down on others.

Neven said he’s now calmer. He focuses on reading the Fa (teachings), doing the exercises, and working on Dafa projects. Being open-minded also helped him to exchange ideas with other practitioners, listen to their opinions, and he helps them.

“Falun Dafa taught me how to constantly review myself and my thoughts. I’m able to eliminate my attachments and live by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,” he said.

Handing out Dafa Flyers

Mira from Serbia retired many years ago and has practiced Falun Dafa for 15 years. During World Falun Dafa Day five or six years ago, she decided to hand out information about Falun Dafa. She began distributing flyers twice a week and attended events on the weekends.

Because of the recent student movements, public transit stopped, but Mira insisted on going there and distributing materials. Every time she had to walk 5 kilometers. She was also happy to meet Chinese tourists. One day, a Chinese tourist read information on the flyer, patted on her shoulder, and said to her with a smile, “God bless you.”

Mira attended an information day event about a month ago. Because she walked too fast, she experienced sharp leg pain after she returned home as if some of her bones were displaced. By morning, she realized she could not get out of bed, let alone walk. This continued for some time. One evening, she lay down in pain and wept, thinking she could not go out and hand out flyers. This feeling continued and she could not sleep until dawn. When she woke up the pain was gone and she had no trouble walking. “I knew Master helped me, and removed my karma, so I could go out and help him save people,” Mira recalled.

When she went out that day many people were interested in learning about Falun Dafa. Among them was a television celebrity, who thanked Mira for the information about Falun Dafa and the persecution in China. Several Chinese people also accepted materials happily.

Mira was very thankful. “I know Master gave me this opportunity to eliminate karma and continue distributing materials to help save people. I know Master is looking after each of us,” she said.

Fundamental Attachment

Filip took up Falun Dafa more than 10 years ago and he talked about his fundamental attachment. After he began practicing, he decided to stop drinking and smoking. His friends ridiculed him and said they thought it was strange. Filip was upset and thought, “After many years you guys will look old but I’ll look young. Let’s see who’ll laugh.”

When some friends asked why Filip practiced Falun Dafa and followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, he said with a pride, “Because I am able to do so.” He felt he was special because he was able to be a practitioner.

Filip eventually understood that he was eager to prove himself through Dafa. This was vanity. After he realized this he was no longer attached to looking young.

“Looking at my cultivation journey, I often paid too much attention to how people looked at me,” Filip said. He felt uneasy during the Falun Dafa information day event because he was worried his acquaintances might recognize him. He avoided doing things to validate Dafa because he was afraid others might not understand him. “In fact, this was a cunning way of thinking to protect my reputation,” he explained.

Filip also noticed vanity manifested in different ways. In his mind, he sometimes imagined he was someone who was very successful, tough, and attractive to women. “I could not tolerate criticism from my wife. It made me furious, so I often responded with a sudden outburst of anger,” he continued.

Looking back, Filip realized vanity was his fundamental attachment. He should let it go because vanity focuses on recognition from others instead of one’s inner values.

Identifying Human Notions

Irma from Australia said a practitioner once pointed out that she was a people pleaser. Some coworkers said Irma was a coward because she tended to avoid conflicts. These comments shocked her, but they also motivated her to examine herself.

Her childhood was difficult and Irma’s parents ignored her. So she did things to attract their attention. She also moved to various places around the world and had to adapt to different environments. She was labeled a people pleaser probably because she was eager to be recognized and accepted.

“Probably because I’m timid I wait for others to decide for me or make the arrangements,” she explained. “These notions may prevent me from being proactive in telling others about Dafa or advancing my career.”

She felt the Shen Yun artists who help Master save people through music and dance have done very well. “They cultivate solidly and remain determined when faced with modern society’s trends. With wisdom from the divine, they are able to validate Dafa with dignity,” she said.

Irma said she was thankful for that practitioner’s comment, because it motivated her to look within and improve according to Dafa’s principles.

Returning to Traditional Culture

Zahra is from Iran and got married in Croatia last year. Getting married made her rethink her role in the family. She was used to living on her own. After she got married, cooking and household chores posed a challenge. She always strove to be perfect at work. When people or things failed her expectations she became emotional criticized others.

As she continued to look inward, Zahra realized her wish to control others and her pursuit of perfect are attachments. “In traditional culture, women were gentle and kind. While supporting the family, she waited for her husband to make decisions while she provided input,” she said. “While working hard for the family to fulfill her responsibility, she provides a safe and warm environment. Even when she encounters difficulties she remains loyal to the family and fulfills her duty.”

Motivated by these traditional values, Zahra decided to do better. Now her family is more harmonious. She listens to Minghui Radio while she cooks or does household chores. “These programs help me make the best use of my time. I’m able to let go of my human notions and improve myself.”
