(Minghui.org) A woman in Jiaohe City, Jilin Province has been sentenced to 3.5 years for practicing Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned in late November 2025.
The ordeal of Ms. Wang Xiulian, in her 60s, stemmed from her arrest around 9 a.m. on October 27, 2023 at another practitioner Ms. Liu Huiqing’s home. Shortly after, Mr. Yuan Enzhu and his wife, Ms. Zhang Shuqin, were also arrested at their own home by Hebei Street Police Station officers.
Ms. Wang was taken to the Tiangang Police Station at around noon and then back to the Hebei Street Police Station at 2 p.m. The police interrogated her and Ms. Liu, and questioned whether they had contact with Mr. Yuan and Ms. Zhang, who are also Falun Gong practitioners. One officer rolled up a stack of paper and hit Ms. Wang in the head. She was forced to admit that she distributed over 50 Falun Gong booklets (it’s not clear whether she actually did).
Ms. Wang and Ms. Liu were released on bail the next evening due to their poor health.
Mr. Yuan and Ms. Zhang were admitted to a local detention center. They were both sentenced to three years and two months by the Shulan City Court on July 29 and August 6, 2024, respectively. Mr. Yuan is now serving time at the Jilin Province Second Prison and his wife at the Jilin Province Women’s Prison. Both Shulan and Jiaohe are under the administration of Jilin City.
Ms. Wang received a call from Pan Quanye from Jiaohe City Police Department in November 2024 and was ordered to go there. She went and was taken to the Shulan City Procuratorate by Pan to sign some legal documents.
Ms. Wang realized that the police were trying to prosecute her. She went into hiding days later. After living in displacement for over six months, she was arrested around July 10, 2025 in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which is over 2,000 miles away from Jiaohe. She was escorted back and held at the Jilin City Detention Center.
The local procuratorate indicted Ms. Wang and the local court sentenced her to 3.5 years.
This is the second time that Ms. Wang has been sentenced. She was previously arrested on the evening of December 23, 2011, together with three other practitioners, including Ms. Ding Yubin, Ms. Li Shumei and Ms. Li Xuehua, for going to the Houliu Village in Baishishan Town to distribute Falun Gong materials. They were arrested by Baishishan Police Station officers and interrogated by agents of Jiaohe City Domestic Security Office. They were admitted to the Xiaobaishan Detention Center on December 25, 2011.
The Jiaohe City Court secretly sentenced the four practitioners to prison at an unknown time. Ms. Li Xuehua was sentenced to 5 years. Ms. Li Shumei received 4.5 years. Ms. Wang and Ms. Ding were each given 3.5 years. All four of them were transferred to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison in mid-September 2012.
On June 16, 2015, less than six months after Ms. Wang was released, she was arrested again by Jiang Baisheng of the Hebei Street Police Station and held at the Shahezi Brainwashing Center for five days.
