(Minghui.org) A Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, resident has held two hunger strikes since his arrest on December 19, 2024 for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. Mr. Wang Zebin is now facing prosecution after the police submitted his case to the Daowai District Procuratorate.

Mr. Wang, 53 and a former employee of the Harbin Bearing Factory, was arrested at home by officers from the Tongxiang Street Police Station. His Falun Gong books, photo of Falun Gong’s founder, computer and printer were confiscated. He was first taken to the police station and then transferred to the Daoli District Second Detention Center on the same day for a 15-day administrative detention. He was put on criminal detention and taken to the Xiangfang District Detention Center on January 3, 2025.

Mr. Wang started a hunger strike on the day of his arrest. On the seventh day, the police took him to the Xiangfang District Hospital for force-feeding. The nurse failed to insert the tube into his stomach and yanked it out violently, causing excruciating pain to him.

Mr. Wang started another hunger strike on January 28, 2025 after the detention center forbade him from doing the Falun Gong exercises. He began to experience pain a few days later. A guard took him to the Xingguang Hospital for a physical examination. He was found to have kidney stones and operated on. He was taken back to the Xiangfang District Detention Center after being discharged.

The police recently submitted Mr. Wang’s case to the Daowai District Procuratorate. His family has hired a lawyer for him.

This isn’t the first time that Mr. Wang has been targeted for his faith. He went to Beijing in 2001 to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. He was arrested and detained for 30 days.
