(Minghui.org) The Minghui.org website confirmed in late January 2025 that a Changchun City, Jilin Province resident was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Su Yanxia, 63, was arrested at home on the evening of July 17, 2024, by officers from the Chengxi Police Station. Her home was ransacked.

Two other practitioners, Ms. Liu Yajie and Ms. Guan Dejuan, were also arrested around the same time. It’s not clear whether they were sentenced.

The police submitted Ms. Su’s case to the Chaoyang District Procuratorate in August 2024. She was indicted in December 2024 and sentenced by the Chaoyang District Court shortly after.

Since 2023, at least 13 other Falun Gong practitioners have also been sentenced by the Chaoyang District Court.

Ms. Sun Shuxia and Ms. Dong Yu were arrested on March 4, 2022, while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. Both women were convicted around June 2023. Ms. Sun, in her 60s, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. The exact sentence handed down to Ms. Dong, a well-known ophthalmologist in her 50s, wasn’t clear.

Ms. Xu Bin, 67, was arrested on July 4, 2022, indicted on October 9, 2022, and sentenced to three years sometime in 2023. She was taken to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison on June 5, 2023.

Ms. Zang Hongyan, 72, was arrested on September 16, 2022. She was given a two-year term after a secret hearing in February 2023. She was admitted to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison on June 5, 2023.

Ms. Yan Lijuan was arrested on October 24, 2022 and sentenced to three years and six months some time in 2023. Her appeal was rejected by the Changchun City Intermediate Court on May 18, 2023.

Ms. Wang Min, a 71-year-old retired professor, was arrested on February 13, 2023, and later sentenced to a four-year prison term. She was admitted to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison on January 15, 2024.

Three practitioners, including Ms. Zhang Hong, Ms. Lu Jinhua, and Ms. Zhang Chunjie, were arrested during a police sweep on February 19, 2023. Ms. Zhang Hong was sentenced to two years and transferred to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison on December 13, 2023. Ms. Zhang Chunjie was sentenced to three years and taken to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison on December 25, 2023. Ms. Lu was sentenced to four years, but it’s not clear when she was admitted to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison.

Ms. Nie Yan, a 66-year-old retired teacher, was arrested on May 31, 2023 and given a two-year sentence in November 2023.

Ms. Li Yanmin was arrested on June 12, 2023, and sentenced to ten months in October 2023. She was admitted to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison in December 2023.

Ms. Zhang Haihong was seized at home on June 14, 2023, and sentenced to two years with a 5,000-yuan fine in November 2023. She was transferred to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison on January 25, 2024.

Ms. Zhang Meiju was arrested on November 22, 2023, and sentenced to four years in early June 2024.
