Three Falun Gong Practitioners in Their 70s and 80s Sent to Prison to Re-serve Expired Terms

April 18, 2025 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Three Tai’an City, Shandong Province, residents in their 70s and 80s were recently sent to prison to serve prison terms they were given in 2019 for their faith in Falun Gong, despite the fact that they had finished serving the terms at home. One of the three, who is in her 80s, was found to be incapacitated, so she was sent to the hospital instead.

Ms. Lu Keqin and Ms. Ma Junting, two retired professors of the Shandong University of Science and Technology in their 70s and 80s, respectively, and Ms. Han Yuehua, also a retired teacher in her 80s, were arrested in June 2018.

They were all sentenced by the Feicheng City Court on June 13, 2019. Ms. Lu and Ms. Han were each sentenced to a 3.5-year prison term with a 30,000-yuan fine. Ms. Ma was given two years and a 30,000-yuan fine; as Ms. Ma was still on probation for an earlier three-year term, the judge in charge of her case suspended the probation and ordered her to serve a combined five-year term. The judge allowed all of them to serve time at home due to their advanced age.

On December 24, 2021, the leadership of Shandong University of Science and Technology removed Ms. Lu and Ms. Ma from their retirees’ roster. The university ordered the suspension of all of Ms. Ma’s retirement benefits beginning in January 2022, and demanded that she return the pension she had received between June 2019 and August 2021, as well as the pension funds and health insurance benefits received between September and December 2021.

For Ms. Lu, in addition to losing her retirement benefits since January 2022, she was also ordered to pay back the pension and health insurance benefits she received between June 2019 and December 2021.

Ms. Han was also fired by the school she worked at and deprived of retirement benefits.

In February 2025, the local police suddenly showed at all three women’s homes and said that the prison terms they served at home didn’t count, ordering them to re-serve the time in prison.

At the time of writing, Ms. Lu and Ms. Han have been admitted to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison. Both of them are scheduled to be released in August 2028. According to an insider, Ms. Han accidentally flushed her dentures down the toilet; she is unable to eat normally and can only consume porridge.

Ms. Ma, on the other hand, is incapacitated and uses a wheelchair. She is now undergoing treatment in a hospital. It’s not clear whether the police plan to take her into prison anytime soon.

Prior to their latest imprisonment, Ms. Lu has served one year of forced labor and Ms. Ma was held in the brainwashing center multiple times.
