(Minghui.org) Ms. Xie Xiuling, 72, from Jiaoling County, Guangdong Province, was admitted to the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison on February 19, 2025 to serve a three-year term for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Xie was arrested on the morning of April 18, 2024. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books and portrait of Falun Gong’s founder. She was later sentenced to three years and fined 45,000 yuan by the Meixian District Court.
Ms. Xie’s family was not notified of her case status so they did not know when she was indicted, tried, or sentenced. They only recently learned that she was imprisoned.
Prior to her latest persecution, Ms. Xie was repeatedly targeted for practicing Falun Gong. She was arrested on February 16, 2000, while doing the Falun Gong exercises in a park. After she was held in the Dongshan Police Station for a few hours, she was taken to the Jiaoling County Police Department. The police raided her home while she was in custody. They released her at 8 p.m. that day.
After another arrest in late March 2001, Ms. Xie was held at a brainwashing center for more than twenty days. She was arrested again on March 5, 2005 and held at a different brainwashing center for three months.
While putting up self-adhesive stickers which had Falun Gong messages on the night of November 27, 2014, Ms. Xie was arrested and her home was raided. The police did not issue a list of confiscated items as required by law. She was held at the Meijiang District Detention Center for one month and released on December 26, 2014.
