(Minghui.org) The recent Shen Yun performance was extremely inspiring to me. I completely did not expect that it would change me as a person.
In the second part of the performance, there was a women’s classical dance, in which only female dancers were performing. They were dressed elegantly and their movements were graceful and flowing, like a dream. As I was immersed in the performance, I suddenly saw a hand gesture of one of the dancers. I felt like I’d been shocked with electricity, and an inexplicable feeling of being moved surged in my heart.
At that moment, I seemed to have recalled the gentle, kind, quiet, and beautiful me of the past. I used to be that kind of person. However, in today’s society, women that are tough, cold, and even a bit rough always seem to get more, and I have become like that without realizing it. But I was not that kind of person in the past, and I never would have thought I would become like this.
Watching Shen Yun this time was like a beautiful memory, reminding me of who I really want to be.
I personally benefited a lot from the show, and I truly think this performance is beautiful, so I am very willing to support Shen Yun. The artists are really doing a great job. Despite the huge pressure they face, including some performers’ family members being persecuted in China, they still persist in presenting the original traditions and social norms of the past.
I think it’s outstanding that they’re protecting their families in China and speaking up for them in this way. In traditional culture, caring for and standing up for family are very important values. It’s very important to expose the persecution in China. At the same time, I think it’s also very important that Shen Yun preserves and showcases Tibetan culture and traditions in its performances, because this culture is also being persecuted. Every country has its origins, traditions, dignity, and beauty, and you can find all of these in Shen Yun.
In addition, I also think that Shen Yun’s revelation of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) suppression of other religious groups is very correct and important. Shen Yun also presents Tibetan and Mongolian dances, which allows those cultures to be preserved and seen by the international community. Protecting humanity and religious freedom is an international responsibility. For me, watching Shen Yun is an act of expressing my position and a form of support for kindness, cultural diversity, and personal freedom.
I am very willing to support such a performance that respects all ethnic groups and upholds the beauty and sovereignty of its own culture. I also enjoy watching the dance numbers about traditional cultures. Although Shen Yun’s main theme is to “restore the divinely-inspired culture of China,” I also see many basic elements and principles of traditional European culture in the dances. If we support Shen Yun well, maybe one day we will have our own performance to “restore traditional European culture.”
That would be wonderful. The royal system of the past had benevolent kings, noble and strong men, decorous and reserved ladies, traditional European music, and dignified and gorgeous outfits – and these were actually all reflected in Shen Yun’s presentation. So I think Shen Yun is an important catalyst that will help us return to traditional culture in Germany and all of Europe.
Europe should also maintain its values of freedom and justice and support Shen Yun. I think supporting Shen Yun is a very worthwhile thing to do. Europeans should not be misled by the various accusations and propaganda coming from the CCP. Jealous and malicious people in the world will slander and pressure others. Through the Cultural Revolution, the one-child policy, the intervention in Hong Kong, etc., we can see that the CCP has long been notorious for such behavior.
I believe that a person should be honest and kind, and protect the values that Europe has built up after ages of hard work. There is an old German proverb that fits the spirit presented by Shen Yun very well: “Be honest, helpful, and kind.” Shen Yun is exactly such a reminder, and it is reawakening these values internationally.
