(Minghui.org) Every year on April 27, the Netherlands celebrates King’s Day, the “official” birthday of the king, currently Willem-Alexander. The entire country takes a day off to celebrate with parties, street markets, and exhibitions.
King’s Day began in the early 19th century. On this day, members of the royal family visit a city to meet and interact with the residents. Because the royal family’s surname is “Oranje” (which means “orange” in Dutch), people wear orange to show their support. Tourists from many other countries come to the Netherlands to experience this festive day.
Practitioners introduce Falun Dafa during King’s Day on April 26.
In 2025, King’s Day was observed on April 26. That day, Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) practitioners set up an information display in the square in front of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The display featured three sections. The first section showed how the practice, based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, was introduced to the public in China in 1992 and was very popular. The second section had information about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China since 1999, including the staged Tiananmen Square self-immolation. Practitioners demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises in the third section.
The peaceful exercise music and slow, graceful movements as practitioners did the exercises attracted people to stop and watch. Some read the posters or flyers, while others spoke with practitioners to learn more. A few began to follow the movements and do the exercises.
Many people were shocked to learn about the persecution, including the forced organ harvesting. They signed a petition calling for an end to the persecution. Visitors from different countries also added their names. Many people said they had already heard of Falun Dafa and wanted to know more. Around 270 people signed the petition that day.
People sign the petition to call for an end to the persecution.
One man was angry after learning about the persecution and asked, “What can I do to help?” A practitioner said he could sign the petition to end the persecution. He signed it without hesitation and asked his friend to sign as well. He said, “I want to support what is right. You’re doing a great job!”
A young couple from Taiwan said they were unaware of the persecution. They had been working in Germany for many years and hadn’t returned to Taiwan. Visiting relatives in the Netherlands, they had come to the Rijksmuseum when they saw the information booth. They were shocked and upset by what the Chinese Communist Party does to practitioners in China. They thanked practitioners for telling them about the persecution.
