(Minghui.org) Over 1300 Falun Gong practitioners attended the Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference held at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel in Toronto, Canada on July 12, 2025.
After listening to other practitioners’ experiences, some attendees shared their cultivation journeys and insights. They said this conference helped them see their shortcomings and realize the importance of unconditionally looking within, and keeping righteous thoughts and belief in Master and the Fa.
Bogdan said it’s important to look within when encountering conflicts.
Bogdan from Toronto started practicing Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) in 2021. He shared his thoughts after the conference, “A practitioner talked about a bad notion that tribulations between practitioners is harder to go through. Actually it’s not true. I had that thought too because I noticed when you go through tribulations with ordinary people, it’s easy to pass. But with practitioners you expect them to have certain standards, so if they don’t act according to the Fa, then we can’t get over that tribulation.
“We’re all here to cultivate. Just realize that Master will always find a way to encourage us and arrange things and people to irritate us and help us look within.”
Vicky is a Falun Gong practitioner who works at a Toronto media company. After listening to fellow practitioners share experiences and comparing her own cultivation status, she felt that she still had a long way to go. She said, “Every time a Fa conference is approaching, I want to write a sharing, but I always give up because of my attachments, such as fear and concern. I am afraid that others will think I am not diligent, and I am afraid of being misunderstood or causing conflicts.
“When I encountered conflicts at work, I often failed to truly look inward and accumulated a lot of resentment,” Vicky said. “When I heard young practitioners talk about unconditionally looking within, I realized that I had been ‘conditionally’ looking within and was tolerant on the surface, but my mind was full of grievances and dissatisfaction. In fact, true ‘tolerance’ is a state of having no resentment or hatred in the heart and not feeling wronged.”
After comparing the cultivation stories of fellow practitioners, Vicky also realized that her attitude towards her family and fellow practitioners reflected her attachments. She said, “For example, impatience and denial of others are actually projections of my jealousy and imbalance. I understand that everything has cause and effect. I must let go of resentment, concerns, and jealousy, study the Fa more, practice the exercises more, and maintain righteous thoughts, so that I can better complete my mission and fulfill my vows.”
Daniel, a Falun Dafa practitioner who immigrated to Canada from Venezuela, attended the conference with his family. Daniel said that he obtained the Fa in 2008, and later introduced Dafa to his wife, who now practices Dafa with him.
After listening to the practitioners share their cultivation experiences, Daniel said, “I think all sharing is inspiring practitioners to make progress, and the conference is a good opportunity to learn from each other. When practitioners face challenges and difficulties, they can realize and eliminate their attachments. In fact, we can also look inward to see if we have the same problems and what needs to be eliminated. Therefore, every sharing is very good, and I cherish the opportunity to come to the conference very much.”
When asked which sharing touched him the most, Daniel said he was deeply touched by the sharing of a practitioner who was responsible for promoting Shen Yun. He admired this practitioner for being able to calmly face the test of xinxing due to being away from her family and young children for a long time while handling various matters related to promoting Shen Yun. Daniel also said, “I was moved when I heard the local Shen Yun coordinator share how she constantly looked inward and improved her xinxing when faced with various illness karma tribulations.”
Cathereine from Quebec began practicing Falun Dafa in 2011, and said she was happy that she could attend the conference, “Because it’s always inspiring to hear other practitioners’ stories.”
She was moved to tears and said that she’s also been going through some hardships recently, “Listening to other practitioners, it’s always encouraging—to hear other practitioners sharing how they overcome difficulties in cultivation and how to do better. One of the themes that touched me deeply was resentment. I realized that I also have this emotion that I need to let go, and face people and things with more tolerance and compassion.
“Another moving story was how to improve our xinxing by taking care of our family. One practitioner was a project coordinator who talked about how she saw family conflicts and food intolerances as opportunities to improve her xinxing.
“One practitioner talked about the huge karma that weighed on his body. Only by practicing diligently and sending forth righteous thoughts can it be gradually eliminated.” Cathereine said, “From their sharing, I saw my own shadow. I will continue to strengthen my faith and cultivate myself well.”
Joseph is a chiropractor who lives in Hamilton, Ontario and runs his own clinic. He cherishes the opportunity to listen to other practitioners’ experiences, “It’s very precious for everyone to get together and share their cultivation experiences. These exchanges have a positive effect on everyone’s cultivation.”
Joseph talked about his insights after attending the conference, “There’s something very profound and course-altering about listening to other practitioners’ experiences. Each practitioner mentioned the importance of maintaining righteous thoughts and awakening to what they needed to do, and the profound impact it had on the rest of their cultivation journey.
“We can easily lose sight of those moments of insights. We really have to look inward and make sure that we’re cultivating ourselves. It’s not just enough to go through the motions and do the job when we’re part of a project. So, this really set me back on track.
“Maintaining righteous thoughts means abandoning the humanness in yourself and really tuning in to something that’s greater. When we have righteous thoughts we’re tuning in to something greater, something that’s divine.”
Jose from Argentina now lives in Toronto. He is a naturopathic doctor, and has practiced Falun Dafa since 2018. He said Falun Dafa helped him understand why we’re here, and answered his questions about life. The teachings are so profound and answer our yearning for something higher.
Jose said, “It’s very humbling to listen to other practitioners talk about their shortcomings and what they went through to improve, but the main thing is compassion—compassion for each other and sentient beings.
“The other thing is strengthening our faith from the perspective of the Fa and trying to understand how to improve by maintaining righteous thoughts.”
This was the second conference Ms. Li attended in Canada. She was quite touched by the sharing by a practitioner who was a parent, “The practitioner said that every child is from heaven and is very precious. When he was with his children, he also remembered to look inward and realized that the child’s mistakes might be caused by the parents’ own shortcomings in cultivation.” She said, “Even though I don’t have a child, I think it’s the same when interacting with other practitioners. When conflicts arise, we should be considerate of each other’s situation and consider the other person from their perspective. Only in this way can we get things done.”
Ms. Li said that she had just arrived in Canada not long ago and was still not used to the new work and living environment. She was also facing some difficulties, but the sharing gave her encouragement. She said, “Today’s sharing made me feel that when we truly think and understand things from the perspective of the Fa, we can actually get through them.”
