(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) practitioners participated in local “National Night Out” events on August 5, 2025, aiming to alert residents and local government officials about the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) transnational repression. The CCP is intensifying its efforts to deceive Americans by manipulating the U.S. legal system, media, and social media platforms, in order to extend its persecution of Falun Gong to the United States, endangering American people’s freedom of belief and safety.

Practitioners participated in events hosted by the San Diego City Police Department, the Chula Vista Police Department, and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. They also set up a Falun Gong Information booth at the event held by the San Diego Police Department near Balboa Park.

The San Diego Police Department representative thanked practitioners for participating and for telling people this important information. He told practitioners how they can contact the police department if they are harassed by the CCP.

National Night Out, which originated in the 1980s, aims to strengthen police-community ties and combat crime. Held annually on the first Tuesday evening of August, it serves as an opportunity for the public, non-governmental organizations, and police to enhance mutual understanding and promote community safety.

Police Thank Practitioners for Reporting Important Information

Practitioners talked with representatives from the police department, city council office, district attorney’s office, city attorney’s office, chamber of commerce, and businesses participating in the event. Many of them were aware of the CCP’s infiltration efforts in the United States, but were dismayed by the CCP’s recent manipulation of media and social media to spread lies about Falun Gong and Shen Yun, thereby intensifying the persecution of Falun Gong. Some said hearing about this helped them understand why they previously saw hateful messages online.

After speaking with practitioners, Assistant Police Chief of Operations Daniel Grubbs relayed the information to his colleagues when they arrived. He also told practitioners how to contact the police department if the are harassed by the CCP.

Robyn, who organized the event, and her adult son, Jackson, said they were happy to learn more about Falun Gong. They also recounted how Jackson nearly fell victim to social media manipulation by the CCP.

Jackson said that after seeing the Shen Yun poster, he wanted to learn more about it, so he went online. However, he saw a lot of negative comments about Shen Yun on social media, which made him a little confused. He wanted to learn more and continued browsing online, but he still kept seeing negative comments on social media.

Robyn shared that she once saw a Shen Yun ticket counter in a shopping mall in Las Vegas and was very impressed by the people introducing Shen Yun. She said, “They were enthusiastic and worked well together.” She thus told her son not to believe what he’d seen on social media attacking Shen Yun.

After talking with Falun Gong practitioners, they realized that the negative propaganda about Shen Yun they saw on social media was instigated by the CCP.

Chamber of Commerce Chairman: More People Should Know about the CCP’s Infiltration

Mike Leland, president of the Poway Chamber of Commerce, told practitioners that he is well aware of the CCP’s infiltration and hopes more people know about it.

At the event in Chula Vista practitioners personally handed information about the CCP’s transnational repression to the mayor and police chief.
