(Minghui.org) A 62-year-old woman in Tianjin was sentenced to fourteen months and fined 8,000 yuan on August 29, 2025 for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang Wenguo was arrested on January 5, 2025, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. Officers from the Xinjian Police Station ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. She was put on criminal detention at the Baodi District Detention Center and later convicted by the Baodi District Court.
Ms. Wang took up Falun Gong in 1999. After the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution in July 1999, she remained firm in her faith. She went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in 2000 and was given one and a half years of forced labor.
Ms. Wang was arrested again on October 28, 2014 for talking to people about Falun Gong. The arresting officers from the Haibin Police Station sent her to the Baodi District Detention Center. During her hearing by the Baodi District Court on February 6, 2015, her lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her. Around 20 plainclothes officers stood outside the court, on the lookout for local Falun Gong practitioners who might come to support her. She was sentenced to four years at an unknown date.
