(Minghui.org) I started to practice Falun Dafa with my parents when I was very young. Now, I am a middle-aged Dafa practitioner. I’d like to share my story of how I have stayed calm despite having a non-practitioner business partner.
Last year I set up a small business with Xie (alias) whom I knew for some time. After we rented the property and put in the funds, she said that she would like to take care of the accounts. She would put the daily income into her bank account and would show me the accounts details each month and let me check the profit. I accepted the request.
Everything went smoothly. We experienced good business at first. She showed me every transaction and I recorded the account details in the book. After one month, she was no longer willing to show me the business details. She said that she would put all the income into her account and would not allocate any profit to me because she wanted to develop the business. She only gave me the money I earned from my orders. She wouldn’t show me any other business income. I was surprised and got angry. How come she didn’t keep her word? I wanted to withdraw from the partnership. She said, “If you want to withdraw, I will not give back the money you invested. I want to grow our business. You don’t need to worry.”
It seemed that we had a deadlock. As a practitioner, I shouldn’t fight with her for personal interest. I should follow the course of nature. I had already told her that I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. So I should discipline myself with a higher standard. I agreed with her demand.
As time passed, and our business grew bigger. We needed to hire a casual employee. Xie asked me to hire a retired woman to reduce the cost. She said we would pay the woman 600 yuan. The woman helped us for 20 days. When she finished, Xie didn’t want to pay her. I was stunned. I tried to keep myself calm and thought it must be an opportunity for me to let go of my personal interest. As a practitioner, I must be true to the woman and give her the money I had promised. The woman did a good job and worked with us for 20 days instead of 10 days as I had asked her to do initially. I gave her 1,200 yuan out of my own pocket. I didn’t tell Xie because I worried that she might get embarrassed.
Later on I found Xie stole money from my orders several times. When she transferred the profit to me, she transferred less. It was our rule that none of us should get any commission from the orders any of us had. On several occasions I saw the accounts details from her mobile phone and discovered what she was doing. I tried to calm down first. I thought that nothing was accidental. I might have owed her money in my past life. I paid her back in this way. As a practitioner, I should not only judge who was right and wrong superficially. It must be that my attachment to personal interest was the issue. When I calmed down, I kept working as if nothing happened.
There were many incidents like this one. I understood that these things happened because my xinxing was not up to the standard. Master must have used these incidents to test me and lift me up. I must use these opportunities to let go of my attachment to personal interest. I should care less about my loss. Later on I used my own money to purchase the merchandise for our shop and didn’t get reimbursement from Xie.
Later on Xie found out that I used my own money to buy goods for our shop and gave wages to the woman. I never asked for reimbursement or checking the business accounts. She was very touched and let down her guard against me. She said, “I clearly see the difference between a Falun Dafa practitioner and everyday people. You don’t care about your personal interest. When you told me about Falun Dafa, I doubted what you said in my heart. Now I admire you practitioners from the bottom of my heart. So what the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) said is false.”
Xie trusts me since then. When I clarified the truth about Dafa to our clients, some of them didn’t believe it and reported to her. She then said to them, “This is her belief. You don’t know what she has experienced. You shouldn’t defame her. We have the freedom to belief, don’t we?” I was surprised at her change. I thought that she would ask me not to tell our clients the facts about Falun Dafa because she might worry that I would scare the clients away. But she stood by my side instead. She asked me not to worry and said that she would handle it.
Xie came down with a serious illness and was hospitalized this New Year. I went to see her in the hospital and said, “If you believe it, you keep reciting ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good’. Please recite the two phrases sincerely. Your life will be saved.” She listened to me. Later on she told me that when she was in emergency and she felt like that she was going to die, she kept repeating the two phrases and pleaded that Master save her. She saw a beam of light before her eyes and felt that she was saved. The medical treatments went smoothly with her since then. Soon she was discharged from the hospital. She started practicing Falun Dafa since then. This is the power of Falun Dafa.
After the past six months, I feel deeply that if I were entangled with the personal interest, thinking of how to defend myself and argue with my business partner, and fearing the loss of my personal interest, I would wear down physically and mentally and live in despair. But I let it go and entered a higher, happier realm!
