Sept. 27, 2025 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Gothenburg, Sweden

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners held a special series of events on September 20, 2025 in Gothenburg to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to Sweden. Thirty years ago Falun Dafa’s founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi, gave a lecture in Gothenburg.

The practitioners held several performances on Gustav Adolfs torg and a parade for the celebration. The Tian Guo Marching Band and the waist drum team gave spirited performances. Practitioners also performed the lion dance. Some practitioners were dressed in traditional Chinese ethnic clothes, while others demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises. Many stopped to watch and said they were impressed by the performances.

Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, was introduced in China by Mr. Li Hongzhi in May 1992. The teachings are based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and guide practitioners to improve their moral character and physical health. Falun Dafa became quickly became popularity and is practiced in over 100 countries. The Falun Dafa books have been translated into 50 languages. Mr. Li and Falun Dafa have received over 10,000 proclamations, resolutions and letters from governments worldwide.

Sally Huckridge from Australia enjoyed the practitioners’ performance on Gustav Adolfs torg.

Sally Huckridge from Australia said she enjoyed the performances on the square and had a big smile on her face. She said, “I just talked to a practitioner and she told me about the practice and explained why the celebration was held. The performances are amazing.”

It was the first time she’d heard about Falun Dafa. She said that though the music sounded loud and joyous, the practitioners’ calm demeanor made her feel peaceful and serene. “The practice has been taught for 30 years. It’s incredible. This scene is beautiful with so many practitioners here,” she said.

Huckridge asked whether the practice was similar to Tai-chi, and a practitioner told her that Falun Dafa place more emphasis on character improvement following the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. “I definitely will go online and check out the practice tonight,” she said, “The exercise movements look soothing and good for people’s physical and mental health.”

When Huckridge heard about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China and that many practitioners were incarcerated and tortured, she said, “It’s horrible that people are treated that way for doing some simple movements.”

Seeing that the practitioners celebrate their belief in a peaceful way and passing on the good messages in Falun Dafa to people in Sweden despite the persecution, Huckridge said, “This is truly something good for mankind.”

Zhuan Falun Is Worth Reading Repeatedly

Lotta (left) and Kristel

Lotta, 80, and Kristel, 76, both lived in Gothenburg. Kristel said she’s practiced Falun Dafa for two years. She’s read Falun Dafa’s main book Zhuan Falun twice and said the practice kept her healthy, and that the book is worth reading again and again.

Lotta said, “I have a copy of Zhuan Falun in English and Falun Gong in Swedish.” She attended a free Falun Dafa workshop a few years ago and learned the exercises. A friend of hers reads and does the exercises with her every week. “Some chapters of the book I needed to read two to three times to understand what it means. Nonetheless I am practicing Falun Dafa,” she said, “I hope that I can become a better person, more benevolent, and honest.” She said that Falun Dafa’s principles are important, “If everyone can practice it, the world will be different.”

She spoke about the Falun Dafa painting exhibition she saw in Marstrand, Sweden. “A girl [a practitioner] explained each painting. It’s very informative and easy to understand this way than reading about it. We saw Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted and their organs being trafficked in the paintings. In the exhibition, such information became very intuitive,” she was overwhelmed, yet impressed.

“People must wake up and think about it. The world is waking up,” she said.

Lotta and Kristel expressed firm belief and hope in Falun Dafa. “It’s a wonderful way of cultivation, and I hope more people understand and join it,” said Kristel. They both walked with the parade from the beginning to the end.

Kristina Tranberg said that practitioners’ music carries the message of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.

Kristina Tranberg watched the performances and waited until the parade returned to Gustav Adolfs torg. She said that when she walked by the square and heard the music, “I felt warm. This was my first time hearing that melody, and it touched my soul,” she said as she dried her tears.

She’s seen similar performances on television but witnessing Falun Dafa’s parade gave her a completely different energy. “The scene is so vivid and touching. I feel that the music is more than just a performance, it conveys the message of truthfulness, compassion and forbearance,” she said.

Praise for Falun Dafa’s Principles and Peaceful Energy

Andrea said Falun Dafa’s principles are authentic and powerful.

Andrea from Romania has lived in Sweden for 30 years. She was busy videotaping the performances and told her son to clap for the practitioners. She supported Falun Dafa’s values.

“People should have the right to pursue happiness, and deserve an opportunity to understand this practice,” she said. She signed the petition advocating to end the ongoing persecution. “I signed it and hope it helps. Good luck!” she said.

This was the first time Andrea heard about Falun Dafa and she said the practitioners’ activities were meaningful. “The event is well-organized. It allows people to see and hear the messages,” she said, “The practitioners have persevered for 30 years, it’s amazing and magnificent.”

Andrea explained to her son the significance of the event. “I was explaining some of the concepts to him.”

She said the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are very important values for society, “They are authentic and powerful. Everyone should understand these principles and put them into practice.”
