(Minghui.org) A man in Ning’an City, Heilongjiang Province, was sentenced to four years for his faith in Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.
Mr. Guan Lianbin was arrested on August 20, 2025, by officers from the Songbei District Police Department in Harbin, the capital city of Heilongjiang Province. It is unclear whether Harbin police went to Ning’an City (nearly 300 miles away) to arrest him or if he was arrested in Harbin.
Prosecutor Fu Ya’nan of the Daowai District Procuratorate in Harbin indicted Mr. Guan at an unknown time. The Daowai District Court held a virtual hearing of his case on December 23, 2025. His lawyer entered a not guilty plea for him and pointed out that the prosecution's evidence was fabricated.
Judge Wang Tingting later sentenced Mr. Guan to four years. His family mailed his appeals to a higher court and called the court to alert them of the appeal.
Prior to his latest persecution, Mr. Guan was repeatedly targeted over the past 26 years for upholding his faith in Falun Gong. He was arrested on October 22, 2003, during a police sweep that also netted over 70 other Falun Gong practitioners in the Mudanjiang region. Mudanjiang oversees Ning’an City.
Mr. Guan was interrogated with torture for nine straight days at the Huanghua Police Station in Mudanjiang City. He was force-fed chilled water and mustard oil. The police also covered his head with a black hood, tied him up, and did not allow him to sleep. He was transferred to the Mudanjiang City Detention Center on the tenth day.
The Mudanjiang City Intermediate Court tried Mr. Guan on April 14, 2004, and sentenced him to five years at the end of the hearing. The judge threatened to increase his sentence if he dared to appeal.
Mr. Guan was admitted to the Mudanjiang Prison in late March 2004 and put in solitary confinement on September 5 that year. He was forced to wear 50-pound shackles, which were chained together with the handcuffs. The guards kept him restrained like that for 15 straight days.
Mr. Guan was moved to Division 6 on May 6, 2005. Guard Zhang Qingshan shocked him on his chest, private part, and inner thigh with an electric baton for over one hour on November 10 that year. He had a heart attack as a result. Yet Zhang yelled, “I specialize in treating heart diseases!”
