(Minghui.org) A 57-year-old native of Anlu City, Hubei Province, remains detained for his faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Mr. Huang Xuejun, a former pharmacist at Puai Hospital in Anlu City, was arrested in early November 2025 while doing odd jobs in Guangshui City in the same province. He was taken back to Anlu and admitted to the Anlu City Detention Center. Not long after, he was transferred to the Changsong Brainwashing Center before being taken back to the same detention center at the end of December 2025.
Mr. Huang’s latest ordeal is almost an exact repeat of what he went through in 2024. He was arrested on April 19 that year while doing odd jobs in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province. He was taken back to Anlu and later moved to the Changsong Brainwashing Center on May 24, 2024. About 40 days later, he was returned to the Anlu City Detention Center.
After he was released on July 8, 2024, Mr. Huang faced constant harassment. The Anlu City 610 Office director showed up at his home in August 2024 and ordered him to go to the brainwashing center to record a video renouncing and denouncing Falun Gong. When he refused to comply, he was threatened with a prison sentence. To avoid further persecution, he went into hiding around October 2024 but was arrested in Anlu in November 2025.
Prior to his two latest arrests, Mr. Huang was persecuted repeatedly for practicing Falun Gong, which he credits for helping him recover from chronic rhinitis and pharyngitis. He was arrested in October 1999 and given one year of forced labor. After another arrest on August 29, 2001, he was given another year of forced labor. In March 2004, he was held in the Tangxunhu Brainwashing Center in Wuhan for one month and forced to pay 3,000 yuan for living expenses. In June 2004, he was arrested again and detained for 15 days.
Mr. Huang was working in Puai Hospital on March 22, 2007, when the police arrested him. The Yunmeng County Detention Center guards instigated three inmates to beat him. He was unable to move for two weeks as a result of his injuries. He was released on bail in July 2007. After he was notified of his court date, he went into hiding in late August 2007 to avoid being prosecuted.
When Mr. Huang returned to Anlu in April 2008, his employer did not let him go back to work at first but later relented. He was arrested at work again on November 3, 2010. He was held in the Hubei Province Brainwashing Center for over 40 days.
The police arrested Mr. Lu at work again in July 31, 2012. In an attempt to escape on August 5 that year, he fell from a fence and suffered a compression fracture of his vertebrae. The doctor recommended three months of bedrest. His family picked him up from the hospital the next day, and he recovered in a month by doing the Falun Gong exercises.
While visiting another Falun Gong practitioner on September 10, 2016, Mr. Huang was reported to the police and arrested. He was held in Anlu for 14 days before being moved to the Hubei Province Brainwashing Center on September 23. He was then taken back to the Anlu City Detention Center on December 16, 2016.
The Anlu City Court sentenced Mr. Huang to four years in June 2017. He was admitted to the Fanjiatai Prison, and his employer fired him soon afterwards.
Mr. Huang did odd jobs in Hubei Province after he was released from prison, only to be arrested in 2024 and again in 2025. He is still being held at the Anlu City Detention Center.
