Sentient Beings Came for Falun Dafa (Part 2)

610 Office Director and State Security Unit Leader Tell Me the Truth

I visited the local Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the 610 Office in 2010. When I saw the director of the 610 Office, I asked her if there was any legal basis when they detained, arrested, and prosecuted Falun Dafa practitioners and if she could show me the documents. She told me bluntly, “No.” She said that she had been in the director position for five years and had never seen any legal basis, and the provincial 610 Office didn’t have legal documents either.

I met a provincial leader in 2011. He told me that the brainwashing center was a black prison with no sentencing terms and that the family members of the Falun Dafa practitioners must demand the release of practitioners after they had been illegally sentenced or they would be sent to the brainwashing center. He tried his best to help families have the practitioners come home earlier. During his tenure, he helped several practitioners’ families rescue practitioners.

I also met a leader from the Domestic Security Unit during that time. I asked him if there was any legal basis to arrest, detain, and prosecute Falun Dafa practitioners. He said that he was looking for the legal documents himself but had not found one. He only saw the decision by the National People’s Congress (NPC) and was not sure if it was the legal basis. He asked me to look into the NPC’s decision myself.

I found this decision after I arrived at my workplace. The Standing Committee of the NPC passed the “Decision on the Prohibition of Cult Organizations and the Prevention and Punishment of Cult Activities” on October 30, 1999. However, it didn’t list Falun Gong as a cult, so this decision had nothing to do with Falun Dafa.

Writing a Complaint from the Angle of Validating the Fa

The same year, I was sent to a forced labor camp by the municipal police department because I was a Falun Dafa practitioner. I filed an application for administrative reconsideration while in the forced labor camp. A guard suggested that if I asked the forced labor camp to lodge the application, the forced labor camp would seize it and it would sink into oblivion.

I asked my family member to submit the application for me. He went to the provincial public security department. In a room without any signs, a person told him that they would accept the application and it was the last day to submit my application. The person asked my family member to deliver it to him in the afternoon and he would wait for my family member in this room.

My application was successfully delivered to the provincial re-education through labor committee. Unfortunately, the reconsideration was denied. I initiated administrative litigation. The guard in the forced labor camp needed to review my complaint. He read it and explained which parts were not good and which parts were good.

I came back to the cell and rewrote the complaint from the perspective of validating the Fa. As long as I could prove that Falun Dafa is good, I would prove that I didn’t commit any crime. Another guard helped me and told me to give the complaint to my family when they visited and have them to file it with the court for me.

I was told that my complaint had been filed successfully and the court would arrange a hearing shortly. The guards in the forced labor camp helped me during the process and each of them helped me without letting the other guards know. They hoped that I would succeed at trial and would be acquitted and released.

A police officer collected all the so-called “legal grounds” the CCP had released targeting Falun Dafa. These “legal grounds” proved that the CCP arrested practitioners first and then made up the basis. The officers in the various legal departments have been committing crimes for the past 26 years of persecution, because of the fact that practitioners were arrested first and then the CCP made up its basis later.

When I was due to be released from the forced labor camp, the officers from the local police station, the street office, the community committee, the judicial affairs office, and the 610 Office came to pick me up. The person in charge didn’t ask me to sign any documents. He said that I was not wrong and only had different opinions. They sent me home.

They Tried to Protect Falun Dafa Practitioners

An officer from the court went to see the people who had picked me up from the forced labor camp and hoped that they would force me to sign a document to withdraw my lawsuit. They didn’t listen to the court officer under the pretense that they were unable to find me and thus unable to cooperate with the court. The court withdrew my administrative lawsuit case using the excuse that I had failed to appear in court despite being summoned twice. A police officer later asked me to leave my home and live elsewhere. Several years later I learned that they didn’t come to harass me because they had used the excuse that they couldn’t find me.

One day in 2018 an officer from the local police station saw me and said he didn’t come to harass me, not because he couldn’t find me, but because he was not willing to disturb me and my child.

In 2014, a judge told me that in cases against Falun Dafa practitioners both the hearing time and the court ruling were predetermined by the political and legal affairs committee, and the intermediate court, and the court of first instance had no power to decide.

The prosecutor from the municipal procuratorate told me that the local government had issued a document saying that anything regarding Falun Gong would not be accepted or replied to. When I filed a complaint with no Falun Gong content, it was rejected and they didn’t dare accept my case. I asked them why they still connected my case with Falun Gong, since I had deleted all the Falun Gong content and only asked for the related parties who had committed crimes to be held accountable. I asked them: when so many cities have released Falun Gong practitioners and have withdrawn persecution cases or refused to accept cases so as to not participate in the persecution, why hasn’t our local area followed suit? The officers in the municipal procuratorate said helplessly that they hoped to do the same and they were in a difficult position.

I filed the lawsuit again and I received a notification from the municipal procuratorate that my case had been accepted. The judge in the intermediate court who handled Falun Gong cases told me that I didn’t need a lawyer in the court of second instance because the verdict for the second trial had been determined and as soon as the lawyer’s defense statement was presented, the verdict would be delivered to the defendant. (That meant that the verdict was ready before the trial and the trial was just for show).

One judge from the court of first instance had been involved in Falun Gong practitioners’ cases since 1999. He met the practitioners’ families when they had queries about lodging cases and helped them file the cases in time. Some judges went to detention centers to ask Falun Gong practitioners if they would like to file an appeal in the hope that they would do it and plead not guilty.

I personally saw a judge who was not able to acquit a practitioner due to pressure from above and had included all the evidence favorable to the practitioner in the judgment in the hope that the practitioner would file an appeal against him using his judgment.

Changing My Mindset While Countering the Persecution

The street officers came to see me several times in 2021. I thought they were following the CCP’s orders and had come to harass me. I scolded them and said that Falun Gong is not illegal and that they came to me without any legal basis. They explained to me calmly the purpose of their visit. I was very angry and thought they were unreasonable. After they visited me several times, I finally calmed down and listened to them.

The person in charge told me that the Party secretary of the political and legal affairs committee would come to my home, and they hoped that I wouldn’t open the door for him because a dozen or two dozen people would come to my home, and they were afraid that I couldn’t handle it. They actually came for my benefit. They were unwilling to be accomplices to such evil deeds. But I had the notion that they would participate in the persecution.

The same year, I was sent to a detention center. The guard asked me in a harsh tone whether I was willing to have my photo taken. I replied with the same harsh tone, “No.” Another guard dragged me away to a big room and ordered me to pick up the prison clothes. She told me to put them on. I answered harshly, “No.” She threw the clothes to the floor with anger and took me to a cell hatefully.

The next day the guard asked the inmates to try to forcibly put the prison clothes on me. I refused. They backed down. There was another practitioner in the cell. When the practitioner clarified the truth to the inmates, the guard listened to her quietly and sometimes said things to help the practitioner clarify the truth. I realized that the guard had only been bluffing before with me and behind it she was respectful to Falun Dafa and wanted to protect practitioners.

A director came to look into the issue of practitioners not wearing the prison clothes. We clarified the truth to him. He listened attentively. He said that his mother had believed in Buddhism for many years and he respected her belief. He didn’t say anything about the clothing issue.

During my detention, my second time in the detention center, I refused to eat. The guard on duty gave me a pancake she had bought in the street and said that it was very tasty. I refused. She gave me instant noodles. I refused this, too. I refused to wear the prison clothes and sat there sending forth righteous thoughts. They tried to stop me but not by force. From their speech and actions, I could see that they knew that the persecution was irrational and they were unwilling to carry out the persecution and were passively resisting the policy.

While I was detained in prison in 2024, I refused to write anything slandering Falun Dafa. An inmate monitored me and a guard tortured me. When no one else was present, the inmate monitoring me told me that she must let the other inmates know that she was severe to me or she would not be able to stay in the cell and that the other inmates would report her to the guards. She was unwilling to torture me but she would bluff with the other inmates. She asked me to hold on and told me that I must persist in my belief as long as I thought it was right and that it was worth it even if I lost my life.

A guard summoned me to her office and superficially tried to force me to transform. But between the lines, she reminded me to lodge a complaint against the prison using prison law. She told me to write whatever my thoughts were. She didn’t agree with the forcible transformation of Falun Dafa practitioners in the prison. She thought that it was practitioners’ choice whether they wanted to be transformed and that as long as practitioners were willing to accept the outcome, they shouldn’t be forcibly transformed.

A guard was once involved in the forcible transformation of Falun Dafa practitioners. She saw the inhumane torture and couldn’t put up with it. She really hoped that practitioners would use the law to safeguard their legal rights and interests and prevent the guards from participating in the brutal persecution of practitioners.

When I was released from prison, the officers from the police station, street office, and the community center came to harass me. I saw that they felt helpless and were not willing to get involved in the persecution of good people, but they had to comply with the persecution. One of them said, “When the CCP collapses, this kind of thing will end.”

Final Remarks

Many officers from different legal departments let me know the facts about the persecution through various means. Some of them actively helped me counter the persecution. I witnessed that sentient beings all came for the Fa.

Because I didn’t cultivate myself well, didn’t study the Fa well, and didn’t improve myself in the Fa, I didn’t save the sentient beings who had a predestined relationship with me and they are still involved in the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners.

I realized from my turbulent experiences that sentient beings came for the Fa. Only when Falun Dafa practitioners listen to Master and cultivate ourselves well can we save the sentient beings who have a predestined connection with us.
