Australia: Young Practitioners Reflect on Their Cultivation Journeys During Minghui School’s Experience-Sharing Conference

Oct. 16, 2026 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Sydney, Australia

(Minghui.org) The Minghui School in Sydney, Australia, held a Falun Dafa Experience-Sharing Conference on September 27, 2026, at the Canterbury Boys High School. Seventeen young practitioners spoke at the conference.

They talked about their cultivation experiences in their families, schools, and daily lives—how they diligently studied the Fa and practiced the exercises; how they adhered to Falun Dafa’s guiding principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance; and how they looked inward, eliminated their attachments, and improved their xinxing during conflicts or when they were treated unfairly.

Look Inward During Conflicts

In her sharing titled “Keep Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance in One’s Heart,” Xinqing described a small incident that took place during a school camp.

When she was in line for breakfast, a classmate mistakenly thought she cut in the line and asked her to go to the end of the line. Even though the line was very long, she did not argue. Instead, she thought she should hold herself to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, so she walked to the end of the line.

However, a dining hall staff member saw what happened. The staff member took her by the hand and led her to the very front of the line.

Xinqing realized from this incident that when we are wronged or misunderstood, there is no need to argue—it’s more important to maintain one’s xinxing. She also recalled Master’s teachings in Zhuan Falun.

Another practitioner, Zirong, described a xinxing test at school. One day, a classmate in the second grade suddenly hit him. Zirong felt humiliated, and he was about to cry. However, he tried hard to hold back his emotions.

After school, he told his mom about this incident. She patiently discussed the situation with him, saying that they could let the principal know about the situation, or he could try to put down his grievance and resentment while handling the matter with compassion. She said she would support him no matter what his decision was.

Zirong thought about it carefully and decided to try to set aside his resentment and continue to be kind to that classmate. His mother asked him if he was truly able to do it on the inside, and not just endure it on the surface.

Zirong recalled Master’s teachings about forbearance in Lecture Four of Zhuan Falun. He realized that not only should he refrain from competing or fighting in his conduct, but he should also work hard to remove the resentment in his heart through cultivation.

Self-Control Against Gaming Temptations

As electronic devices are becoming more popular, how to avoid being addicted to phones and video games was a topic discussed by multiple practitioners at this conference.

Edward candidly shared his experience while struggling with self-discipline in his sharing, “Breaking Free from Being Addicted to Games.”

When someone was watching over him, Edward was able to plan his study and piano practice time well. However, when he was no longer supervised, he gradually relaxed his standards for himself and started playing video games. He started to spend more and more time playing games. Even when he knew he should rest, practice the piano, and prepare for the next day’s practice, he did not want to stop.

Looking back on this experience, Edward realized that he originally thought he was enjoying his freedom, but in reality, he gradually lost control over his time and his behavior.

He said, “In the past, I thought that freedom is doing whatever you want to do. Now I think true freedom is: while facing temptations, I still can make the correct choice and be the master of myself.”

This understanding made him rethink what true self-discipline is. Cultivation is not only doing well when one is supervised. What is more important is to proactively hold oneself to the Fa when no one is supervising.

Zhenzhen also candidly shared her challenges in her sharing, “My 2026 Cultivation Experience Sharing.”

She discovered that when she returned home from school, her first impulse was to look at the internet on her phone for a while before she did her homework. Even though she originally wanted to look only for a few minutes, she wasn’t willing to put it down until her mother reminded her.

She knew this state was not right, but felt it was difficult to change. With many classmates around her playing with their phones, she was easily influenced by them.

She did not avoid this issue but carefully reflected on it in her sharing. She realized that she should strengthen her main consciousness and truly proactively restrain her conduct.

She hoped to gradually reduce the time she spent on the phone through continuously reminding herself to no longer be controlled by her phone and manage her time well.

She also hoped that young practitioners with the same problem are able to face it squarely, encourage each other, and improve together.

Cherish Cultivation Environment and Improve Despite Challenges

Zhihan recounted an experience that saddened her in her sharing, “Cherish the Cultivation Environment and Walk Right on the Cultivation Path.”

She once gave a little lotus flower to her two best friends. However, the next day, her friends were no longer willing to play with her and told her that their parents did not want them to continue to be friends. They also threw the lotus flowers away.

This sudden change made Zhihan very sad. Her mother comforted her and encouraged her to understand the misunderstandings that her friends may have, and not resent them because of this. Zhihan candidly shared that at the time, she very much cared about whether she was able to make friends, and was significantly impacted by this incident. Gradually, she became unwilling to study the Fa, do the exercises, or participate in Dafa events. Her temper also became worse. When her parents reminded her, she was frequently irritable and did not want to listen.

After she left the Minghui school, she also became lax in studying Chinese. She no longer recognized some Chinese characters when she read the Fa. Later, she even got hooked on video games and sometimes secretly played games while doing homework.

A change in the situation took place this year. Zhihan’s older sister decided to be a teaching assistant at the Minghui School. Zhihan’s mother encouraged her to return to Minghui School. She did the exercises in the park with the others and studied the Fa with her mom and dad. She also joined the other Minghui students to introduce Falun Dafa in the community with her friends. Zhihan no longer plays games when it’s time to do her homework, because she realized they are harmful. She has now recovered the joyful feeling of cultivating she had when she was little.

Her neck used to feel painful due to long computer use while she studied. She feels much better now.

Persevere While Doing the Exercises

Shawn shared his experience with persisting in doing exercises for a year in his sharing, “My Cultivation Experience.”

During morning exercises in the summer, sometimes the sunlight was strong. Sometimes there were bugs crawling around and mosquitoes flying around, making her afraid and unable to calm down.

He noticed that the principal was completely unmoved, with a serene expression when she meditated. Shawn realized he should work hard on getting rid of interference when he practiced the exercises. He slowly adjusted himself and gradually calmed down.

This daily persistence allowed Shawn to realize the importance of patience and willpower in cultivation.

A Candy Helps Him Be Truthful

Dehao, who had just turned six years old, talked about a recent experience to explain his understanding of what it meant to be truthful.

He accompanied his mother and grandmother to tell people about the persecution. An elderly practitioner gave him a lot of candy.

After dinner, he secretly ate some. When mom asked him what was in his mouth, he said he was eating his meal.

Mom did not reprimand him, but said, “We are Falun Dafa practitioners, and we wish to be Truthful, Compassionate, and Tolerant, correct? What does being Truthful mean?” He responded, “Say truthful words, do truthful things.” When mom again asked what was in his mouth, he thought about it and responded honestly, “I’m eating candy.”
