(Minghui.org) Two residents in Xinmin City, Liaoning Province, were arrested on September 16, 2026, because they practice Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
The Xinmin City Domestic Security Office and the Fahaniu Town Police Station were responsible for Mr. Huang Jinlin’s arrest. They raided his home and took him to the police station where he was interrogated. They beat him so hard that he suffered bladder and bowel incontinence. He was in great pain, and his wrists were bruised.
Mr. Huang was later transferred to the Xinmin City Detention Center.
Ms. Tian Xiu’e was arrested on the same day as Mr. Huang, but details of her arrest remain unknown. She is currently held at the Shenyang City First Detention Center. Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, oversees Xinmin City.
Mr. Huang, born in February 1966, used to lead a dissolute life – smoking, drinking, fighting, and gambling. After he took up Falun Gong in 1995, he quit all his bad habits and also regained his health. He started doing farm work and earning money to support his family. He once saw 3,000 yuan cash on the ground and waited there until the rightful owner returned. He said he’d have pocketed the money if he didn’t practice Falun Gong. Many locals also commented that Falun Gong transformed him.
Not long after the persecution began in July 1999, Mr. Huang was arrested and held in the Xinmin City Lockup for 15 days. He went to Beijing in 2001 to appeal for his right to practice Falun Gong and was arrested. He was held at three detention facilities in Beijing for more than one month (seven days at the Miyun District Detention Center, over 10 days at the Dongcheng District Detention Center, and about another two weeks at the Tuanhe Repatriation Station), before he was given 16 months of forced labor.
While he was still held at the Dongcheng District Detention Center, the guards there inserted acupuncture needles into the accupoints on his legs before connecting the terminals to the needles. As the electric current flowed through his body, he let out heart-wrenching screams.
Mr. Huang was forced to do hard labor while he was held at the Tuanhe Repatriation Station and later at the Tuanhe Labor Camp.
