(Minghui.org) Shen Yun Performing Arts will perform in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, in March this year. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has attempted to sabotage performances in Denmark by sending a threatening letter to the hosting organization, targeting the Danish Prime Minster and other high-level officials.
Several Danish officials have condemned the CCP’s intimidation as unacceptable.

The Chinese Embassy in Denmark also published a malicious statement defaming Shen Yun and Falun Gong in both English and Chinese on its website on January 8, 2026. The statement attempts to deter people from watching Shen Yun during its run at the Royal Arena from March 30 to April 2.
The hosting organization in Denmark received the anonymous intimidation letter on February 10. The subject line of the letter reads, “If Shen Yun performances are held, the Danish Prime Minister’s life will be in danger.” The letter threatened the lives of the Prime Minister and all high level Danish officials in an attempt to force the organizers to cancel the performances.
Several Members of Parliament condemned the CCP’s interference in Demark’s democracy, freedom, equity, and human rights, and spoke out against the Party’s extreme acts of intimidation.
Katrine Daugaard, spokesperson for Culture and Social Affairs for the Danish Freedom Union Party, said she learned about the CCP’s malicious statement on February 17.
Daugaard said she had watched Shen Yun at Odeon in Odense last year and thought it was a great performance. She pointed out that Denmark is a free country and the CCP’s statements have no market there.
“In Denmark, we have absolute artistic freedom, and people are free to watch the art they want to see,” Daugaard said.
Mikkel Bjørn Sørensen, chairman of the Citizenship Committee of the Danish Parliament, said, “I will absolutely not listen to the CCP dictatorship’s statements and ideas regarding public participation in various activities.”
Kim Valentin, chairman of the Business Committee of the Danish Parliament, said, “In Denmark, the state doesn’t interfere with what people participate in or don’t participate in. I just realized that people in China don’t have this kind of freedom.
“Therefore, the Chinese Embassy attempts to influence the Danish people. This is completely unacceptable. I truly hope this lets more people wish to watch Shen Yun.”
Carl Andersen, spokesperson for Church Affairs for the Danish Freedom Union Party, stated in a message to NTD News that the CCP’s statement “is apparently foreign forces’ attempting to interfere with Danish freedom of assembly, speech, and religion.
“The CCP regime suppresses human rights, like what we see in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China. We believe Denmark must curb all actions by which China uses economic and cultural initiatives ... to mask its underlying political pressure.”
He also said that Denmark’s past policies toward the CCP were misguided. “The way this regime operates is clearly incompatible with Western values such as freedom and democracy, including its persecution of spiritual belief groups like Falun Gong,” Andersen said.
Andersen said the threatening letters sent to the organizers of Shen Yun in Denmark—letters that targeted Danish political figures—were “extremely serious and unacceptable.”
“Such threats should be reported immediately to the Danish intelligence service for investigation, as they may constitute a threat to Danish sovereignty,” he said. “The Liberal Union Party fully supports freedom of speech and belief, and we call on the Danish people to stand firm against pressure from authoritarian regimes.”
