(Minghui.org) A man in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province is facing indictment for his faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Mr. Kong Gang was home on the evening of December 9, 2025, when he heard police knocking on the door. He ignored it, and the police called a locksmith to pry open the door. Two plainclothes officers barged in first. One of them said, “We’re here to see you.” Another officer began taking pictures of his home. Neither officer showed their IDs or a search warrant.
Six more plainclothes officers came shortly after. They also did not reveal their identities or produce any legal documents. Together with the first two officers, they spent the whole night raiding Mr. Kong’s home. They seized his keys and wallet, as well as 20,000 yuan in cash and other valuables. They did not issue a list of confiscated items as required by law.
According to insiders, Song Zhenghe (+86-13504972023, +86-13940019795), the deputy captain of the Sujiatun District Domestic Security Office, and agents from the subordinate Jiefang Police Station, had staked outside Mr. Kong’s home for days before making the arrest.
The police took Mr. Kong to the Heping District Police Department’s Case Processing Center the next morning. He refused to sign the interrogation records. The police transferred him to the Sujiatun District Detention Center on December 11, 2025. Days later, his systolic blood pressure shot up to 220 mmHg (when a normal range is 120 or lower). The guards forced him to take hypertension pills every day so that they could keep him detained.
By law, the police should notify a suspect’s family within 24 hours of their arrest. Mr. Kong’s family was not told about his arrest until January 4, 2026, when his older sister was summoned to the Jiefang Police Station to sign his detention notice.
The Sujiatun District Domestic Security Office submitted the case to the Xinmin City Procuratorate, which issued a formal arrest warrant for Mr. Kong on January 16, 2026. His family was ordered to sign the arrest warrant soon after. Xinmin is under the administration of Shenyang City.
Mr. Kong told his lawyer about the confiscation of the 20,000 yuan in cash. The lawyer relayed the information to his family, who then sought the return of the money from the Jiefang Police Station. They were instead directed to the Sujiatun District Domestic Security Office, which turned them away.
The family then called deputy captain Song, and he claimed that Mr. Kong intended to print messages about Falun Gong on the confiscated money, so it must be kept in the police’s care as prosecution evidence. Mr. Kong’s family questioned how Song could make such an allegation without any evidence. Song then said that he’d consult with higher-ups to see if they’d approve the return of the money.
This is not the first time that Mr. Kong has been targeted for his faith. He was given an unknown term of forced labor in 2001. While held at the Benxi Forced Labor Camp, he went on a hunger strike and was force-fed. Deputy director Wu Gang and secretary Chen Chongwei were mainly responsible for his abuse.
Mr. Kong was later moved to the Tieling Labor Camp. He refused to wear the inmate uniform, and guard Li Bing and a team lead shocked him with electric batons, shackled him and forced him to stand for long hours as punishment.
Mr. Kong was arrested at work on November 3, 2015, by officers Wang Pu and Chen Mingxu from the Jiefang Police Station. Deputy chief Wang Pujun led his subordinates in raiding Mr. Kong’s home that afternoon. The Sujiatun District Police Department issued an arrest warrant for him on November 8, and placed him in the Sujiatun District Detention Center. The Sujiatun District Court tried him on May 4, 2016, and later sentenced him to three years. He served time at the Benxi Prison.
Mr. Kong’s latest arrest devastated his elderly parents, who were both hospitalized multiple times last year.
