Hsinchu, Taiwan: Falun Dafa Welcomed During the Hakka Festival

March 10, 2026 |   By a Minghui correspondent

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners participated in the Tianchuan Day celebration in Hsinchu County on March 8, 2026. About 2,000 people from 55 groups performed during the parade in Hsinpu Township. Onlookers applauded the Tian Guo Marching Band, waist drum performances, and fairy team.

The Hakka are a sub-ethnic group from Northern China who migrated south. Tianchuan Day is held on the 20th day of the first lunar month, and is related to the legend that Nuwa (the goddess who helped humanity) mended the sky with stones. Hsinpu Township is also famous for its lanterns.

Celebrating With the Community

With about 200 people, including the Tian Guo Marching Band, waist drum team, and fairy team, Falun Dafa was the largest group in the event. Spectators said they could feel energy in the music and enjoyed the melodies very much.

The Tian Guo Marching Band took a group photo before the parade.

Huang Shunu, director of the Tian Guo Marching Band, said the band was established in 2006. With three teams in northern, central, and southern Taiwan, there are over 500 members, and they give hundreds of performances inside and outside of Taiwan. During the festival they played eight music pieces including Falun Dafa Is Good and The Sacred Song.

Chen Yinglou, head of Hsinpu Township, thanked the Falun Dafa practitioners for their participation. He said they are kind people and make great contributions to the community. He also heard how practicing Falun Dafa improves one’s mind and body.

The Tian Guo Marching Band was warmly greeted when it passed by the stage.

Cai Xiaosui, coordinator of the Tian Guo Marching Band in central Taiwan, said the band is unique because of their traditional costumes and distinct music. Because band members practice Falun Dafa and follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, they wanted to bring this positivity to the communities.

People Praise the Performances

The parade started at 6:30 p.m. and local residents gathered along the street and near the stage to watch. Impressed by Falun Dafa practitioners’ performances, some of them exclaimed, “This is fantastic!” or “The music is great!” and “The band members are awesome!”

Mr. Lu, a local artist, took many photos and said he liked the Tian Guo Marching Band’s music and uniforms. He praised them and said they were very talented. “I heard Falun Dafa is suppressed in mainland China. This is wrong because Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are universal values,” he explained. “I’m glad we have freedom of belief in Taiwan. Faith is very important for a person.”

Mr. Lai and his family traveled from Taichung to attend the parade in Hsinpu. “Music of the Tian Guo Marching Band is magnificent and their marching steps are also well synchronized,” he said. “My kid loves it. It’s also great to learn about Falun Dafa.”

Store owners on the street also came out to watch the parade. One woman who immigrated from Vietnam over 10 years ago said, “I never thought a marching band could be so beautiful. The music is wonderful.”

Many people took photos and waved to practitioners during the parade. The event lasted two hours and many onlookers said they looked forward to attending it next year.
